Loved the original, read the book too, this remake was starting to annoy me already by the end of part 1, but I figured ok its not that bad. Part 2 just completely ruined it for me too.

WEST FARGO, N.D. - A North Dakota State University student is facing charges after allegedly trying to buy marijuana at the police station.

Saturday's incident was "about the craziest thing I've ever come across," Officer Ken Zeeb said. "This is something that you couldn't even make up."

The 20-year-old woman called the police station about 3:15 a.m. Saturday, asking where she could buy marijuana, authorities said. The dispatcher, after repeatedly telling the woman it was illegal to sell and possess marijuana, then told her that police had some of the drug in the station's evidence locker.

Zeeb had arrived for his 4 a.m. shift about 15 minutes early and was in the evidence locker room when the woman arrived.

"The dispatcher got on the intercom and said, 'You know what? She's here. She just handed me $3 for marijuana,'" Zeeb said.

The woman was arrested on charges of criminal attempt and possession of drug paraphernalia.

"She didn't seem like she was really under the influence of drugs or alcohol," Zeeb said. "She understood what was going on and articulated herself well."

ehh, Alienwares, especially the ALX series, are extremely powerful machines using top of the line hardware, but I could build the same thing myself for cheaper. Alienwares are for people with money to burn.

They did this a while ago, stopped Outlook access for all new free accounts, left it on for the old ones, but now they're quietly taking it away from the old ones too.

I prefer Gmail, almost 3gigs of storage now, Outlook access, nine months inactivity limit instead of 1 month.

I still keep an msn address just to have spam sent to.

Been in for a while now. Just checked my profile, been a member since July 2005. Known about it even longer then that. Was created by Kevin Rose who I have followed the work of ever since, and after he left, TechTV.

It is kind of cool being built right into Gmail now, which doesn't even need Google Talk installed. Useful for using it at work. Now just if anyone I knew bothered to use Google Talk instead of MSN Messenger I'd actually use it.

Political Opinions / Gun Control
« on: February 09, 2006, 01:01:28 PM »
My biggest beef is also really about the type of guns people are allowed to have.

If you want to change my mind, give me an example of why a civilian would need a .50 caliber sniper rifle. What are you gonna do with it, shoot down a helicopter ? You can't use it for hunting, well you could but why would you want to. Shoot a deer with a .50 caliber round and the deers gonna be in pieces all over the place.

lol, ok, you can own 50 guns, or 100 if you want. I don't know, just whenever I think of someone having that many guns the word stockpile comes to mind, and dangerous cults and overly ambitious militias keep stockpiles.

I stand by my opinion about AK-47's and .50 caliber sniper rifles tho. Those types of guns were not designed for civilians, never intended for civilians, and shouldn't be owned by civilians.

About what the founding fathers wanted, who knows, many things were different back then, and I guess I shouldn't go there. An invading army took what a month or two to cross the ocean to even reach us. But I don't think they meant that amendment, or any amendment,  to be permanent forever without ever being able to change it a little, if its what the people want.

Are guns even necessary for the reason they had in mind, in case the government ever does try to take over the country by force, force people to allow soldiers into their houses anytime they feel like it ? Could still happen, I wouldn't put it past Bush trying it. But I also wouldn't say no outright anymore. I would have said of course not no a couple of years ago, the US military is 20 years ahead in technology then anyone else in the world, and I would have said no army, or citizen force, really stands a chance against it. But then I gotta look at whats happening in Iraq, where, maybe not winning, but small fairly unorganized forces, fairly lightly armed, sure they got RPG's and IED's galore but they aint rolling out tanks and stealth planes, this rather small force, compared to the size of our armys, are having quite the effect. So I'd say yes now, a citizen force against the government forces could actually succeed.

My opinion on this.

Citizens do and should have a right to bear arms, but there should be limits. For a person to defend their home or business they can own a gun, but not 50 of them. And no one gets automatic weapons, or any semi-automcatic weapons either over a certain power. A person may want, but simply doesn't need, an AK-47 or a .50 caliber sniper rifle to defend their homes or hunt animals with. If you want to play with weapons like that, go join the military, thats what they were designed for.

I also like to remind people, that when the founding fathers wrote the right to bear arms, the most powerful rifles took 30 seconds or more to load each shot. If they had known weapons would someday be capable of firing a hundred rounds a minute or accurately hitting a target a mile away, I think they would have written it much more carefully.

Mah fellow Americans, the rich ones anyway I don't care about the rest, 2006 is going to be a great year, if I'm not impeached. The NSA will be given even more power to do whatever they want, the christian church will officially take full control of all public schools and eliminate all science studys, homosexuals will finally be exposed as all being al queda members, and finally I will personally seize all control of Google just for spite, how dare they oppose me. But worry not easily distracted Americans, 95% of you won't notice any of this happening because I'm going to start at least two more needless wars to keep peoples attention off anything else.

Quote from: Demosthenes
They can't.  I can't parse that either.  For example, for a party who claims to be all about individual responsibility, they certainly like to go a long way toward taking that responsibility out of the hands of individuals... who is always up in arms about obscenity?  Republicans.  Pornography?  Republicans.  Blue laws?  Republicans.  Drugs?  Republicans.  Religion?  Republicans.  Consensual sex?  Republicans.

Abortion?  Republicans.

You forgot gay marriage and allowing the NSA to spy on anyone they want.

I think, I am not a woman, don't have a womb, and agree this decision should be left up to the women that do, that the law should be left alone as it is.

I am not anti-abortion. I'm anti-women leaving their babys in garbage cans, starving them to death and or abusing them. If a woman doesn't want a baby, then she shouldn't be forced to have one. Women are not forced to have a baby they don't want now, and the above stated crimes still happen, I dread thinking about how much worse they would become if all women were in fact forced to have babys they don't actually want.

I played the demo of civ 4 for a couple days. Being a huge fan of Rise of Nations, that I still play, I thought it looked like my type of game. After playing it for a while I learned what 'turn based' strategy game meant, and its just not my type of game.

I live in Elizabeth, right next to Newark.

I have no idea what my avatar is. An ex-girlfriend sent it to me a few years back because she thought it kind of looked like me, and been using it everywhere since. I think she found it on DeviantArt.

Anarchy / Who watches G4?
« on: January 14, 2006, 06:01:44 AM »
Can't resist giving my 2 cents here.

I used to love TechTV, watched it almost all day every day. Nothing beat The Screensavers, Call for Help, and Tech Live news show.

Enter Comcast, TechTV becomes G4. All those shows canceled. All the talent fired. I try to make myself like the 'new' G4, but I just can't, because it sucks.

I actually started watching it again for a while last month, because believe it or not they put Call for Help, which is still being made daily in Canada, back on in the mornings, but, then a month later seemed to have changed their minds. They already took it back off. Theres no hope for G4. Ultimate geek channel? Wow thats made me laugh.

Thank god for ThisWeekInTech podcast, almost originally named the revenge of the screensavers.

Hi. New guy here, pointing out the already obvious. Names Mike, from north Jersey. Came across this site and the site name and tagline made me go 'oh thats so me'. I consider myself a geek, and am proud of it. I didn't just make up this username to sound cool, its been my username for everything for years. So, unsure of what else to say, hi.
