I've played it, quite extensively. It is not like TA, because it forces you (in the real-time portion of it that takes place whenever you attack or are attacked in pronvinces) to use a lot of different real-world units and use them for the right purposes (i.e. spearmen, archers, all the way up to No-Dachi swordsmen and musketeers as well as Ikko-Ikki Warrior Monks) The turn based portion of it is resource management, without micromanagent.

It's a great game.
