Riddle Me This
« on: August 04, 2007, 06:01:44 PM »

Many people suffer from SSD (Search Skill Deficiency), a serious condition resulting in the inability to use Google, Yahoo or other internet search engines in a useful way.  Some of them have allowed SSD to effect their lives negatively.  Some have given up on using search engines entirely.  Most, however, struggle and endure.  You may suffer from SSD and not even know it.

I'm here to help.

My search engine search-phrase skills are to be envied!  If you've ever wanted the answer to a question, no matter how difficult or silly, but just never were able to find the answer, post the question here and I'll find you an answer.  I offer this service free of charge despite the quality of the results I'll produce.  Many of you may remember the Riddle Me This thread over at HN.  A few of you have no clue what "HN" stands for.  Do you care enough to ask?  Sure you do!  Go on... riddle me this!

I've got one for ya. Build me a search string that will find who is Norah Jones's piano tech; or who tunes or sets it up. I can find all the bandmembers, discographies, bios, etc; but nowhere can I find who gets the piano to have that sound when she plays. Surely she has someone in particular.

Lots of people claim to have "tuned Norah Jone's piano" if you know what I mean.

Among them are...

And these guys have only played with her instrument, if you know what I mean

Alright, Biz, I remember this. Let us see if you can find the answer again for this quandary:

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Do you have any idea how much harder that is to type than it is to say?

The real question is, What merry melody would a Marmota monax mumble if a Marmota monax did mumble melodies?

The answers, my friend, are both here: *click here*

Dude! I already knew of your m4d sk1llz, but I am certainly impressed. :-)
It looks as if you started from the "client list" idea to then find her name. I was going the other way; starting with her, and trying to follow a myriad of links looking for something relevant. I can see how your approach would zero right in on "piano tuner/clients/Norah"; while my efforts went more or less like "Norah/willy/nilly/everywhere". Makes sense, though; I wasn't looking for Norah. I was looking for a piano tuner. Why would I start with Norah? (Now that I think about it, lol)
I think Lee Alexander is her manfriend; though I could never find anything about him tickling her gorgeous, ivory-white

keys.

 Thanks again! Nice work! +1

In the interest of education, here's what I used for the initial Nora Jones search.

("piano tuner"|"piano tech"|"piano technician"|"piano tuning")+"Norah Jones"

Then, I played around with variations on that text and text that I found on sites that matched that search, like "client list", "notable clients", and "satisfied clients".

According to the wikipedia entry:

"According to Empire Magazine, Sam J. Jones had troubles of some sort with the director, which resulted in almost all of his dialogue being dubbed by a professional voice actor. The identity of this actor is still unknown."

Who was this voice actor? I say this not for myself, but for the entry. I actually happen to like wikipedia...

Everyone knows that unsubstantiated rumors should not be repeated.  Unless you have solid evidence to corroborate this outlandish claim, I'll have to assume that Sam Jones handled this on his own.  Judging from his appearance in Playgirl Magazine in the 1970s, I have to assume that he's quite capable of "handling things" NSFW - (Penis pictures).

Alright, how about this. My friend randomly alt+tabs at the startup of BF2 (Battlefield 2) and he's trying to fix it. Any way to fix it?

A website
A book
And, if you're a H2G2 fan, it is the question that brought us to the answer of 42.

I'd like to think, given the events of the past few years, that the ultimate question is, "Ohio... why?"

Sorry I got bogged down what that damn "W" stuff at the place where they pay me to surf the Intarwebs.  I'll do my best to answer your queries, soon.

Meanwhile, here are some random answers that you may be able to apply somewhere...

To the moon, Alice!
Gee, I don't know Beaver.
Gooooooooooooaaaaoooooolly.
Get me a picture of that damn wall crawler!
