QOTD:  What do you wear to bed?  If it's "nothing"...do you start off that way?  Or do you have pajammers on to begin with?

Boxers, generally. Or boxers with a t-shirt. I'm fairly normal when it comes to these kind o' things.

QOTD:  You go to your online banking site only to find that your former employer has deposited one week's pay into your account.  Do you contact them to tell them?

If you thought they wouldn't figure it out, would that play into your answer?

I would notify them, not because it was the right thing to do, but to prevent complications later
yes it would matter

That's two questions. I thought it was Question Of The Day, not Questions Of The Day.

It's not.  It's Question of the Detta.  And as Detta, I reserve the right to ask as many questions as I want.

I'd let 'em know. I'm an honest guy, what can I say?

Do you think this might be a forgotten bit of vacation, or something like that. Could it be that they were always one week in arears. Or is it possible this was a standard severance pay.

Those are all possible.

This, of course, did happen to me this past week.  It's been about 2 months since I left there.  It wasn't any of those things.  I emailed my old boss immediately and told her that I'd been paid, then got a call from the bookkeeper saying that they had accidentally paid me instead of another girl.  I'll send them a check.

My first thought was that they'd realize the error so I may as well just point it out to them.  Then I wondered if I'd have told them if I didn't think they'd figure it out.  I still would, I'm sure.  I hope I would, anyway.

I'd inform them.  Regardless of their ability to figure it out.

I wish you could actually keep the money if it is given to you on accident, though sadly that is not the case. So I would just give it back, it's not like it would be hard for them to figure out where it went to.

I once went to The Bank of America to get a massive amount of change for my store and I needed 300 dollars in quarters. Since the quarters come in boxes of 500, the teller opened it and took out 300, leaving 200 in the box. She gave me the 300 out of the box, I put them into my bag, and she continued to fill up the box of quarters (Which still contained the 200 in quarters) with the rest of my change. She then handed the box over to me, and I was 200 dollars richer than I was when I walked in the door..

Sadly, because I'm an honest guy, I called them up and asked them to do a proof and see if they indeed were 200 short. They were.

Thinking about it further, there is no record of who gets what when you go in there for an even exchange. They wouldn't have figured out I had it, only a hunch.

Has anyone read Plato's Republic?  (This has something to do with what was asked, no worries)

22 years ago.  I'd have to pull the cliff's notes to remember any of it now.

Many moons ago when we received our bank statement we were suddenly 15,000 richer than we should have been.

Of course we brought it immediatley to the banks attention.  We were thanked very kindly for telling them, although it wasn't their mistake.  A new client had opened an account and deposited the amount for their new home purchase into our account because they had not written their account number correctly, being new and all.

That said I'd do it again tomorrow.  What goes around always comes back around.

It's about the ring of Gigese (Or however the heck you spell it)

It's a ring that gives you invisibility, and they ponder whether people would do things with it when they aren't under surveilance.

(Hp does this with his cloak, LoTR does it with the ring, etc...)

There are also many views about how constant surveilance affects people and their behaviors. One of the most interesting prisons is one where the guard tower can look in, but the prisoner's cannot tell if they are being watched.

I dunno that I ever managed to get that fair into Republic, though it does sound somewhat familiar...

To comment on this, Schrödinger didnt make himself or his cat invisible. He just put the cat in a box and shot a gun inside pondering whether or not he had killed the cat.
Well, I guess if you put a box around yourself you could say you're invisible...
