If you could design any computer a) with any amount of money and b) on a budget using an asus striker extreme motherboard 680 what would you have?

I'm pretty sure you can do something like that with just about any word/name if you pull in enough random data ('now add the year the word "computer" was first printed in a newspaper...').
There was a similar 'devil proof' for each of the professors in my college CS department.

First of all, your question is confusing because of its "a AND b" structure. The correct answer to your question as stated is:

"I would have two computers."

Second of all, reading between the lines and realizing you are asking for a comparison of the two systems for which you provided such detailed specs, the answer would be:

"I would have one fantasy computer build with technology invented last week, and one computer with an asus striker extreme motherboard 680 and some other stuff."

Third of all, you did not specify the size of the budget for system b. Some budgets are indistinguishable from "any amount of money", and other budgets are $1.05.

So, to sum things up, you asked a stupid question, and received appropriate responses.

It was a broad question but I finally have come up with answers.

a) one that chews gum and spits it at strangers who sit down in front of it as a security measure
b) a shotgun to put it out of its misery.

Ok i will specify for you. a) if you had up to £3000 to spend on a computer, what parts would you use and b) if you had £300 with a £100 leway what would you buy, all parts including psu etc. apart from the asus motherboard. That is the one constant in this question.

What am I going to use the computer for?  Does it need to be p0rtable?  Am I going to be the only user on this computer?  Where will this computer be stored?  Do I have time to wait for the parts to be delivered, or do I need this sooner than that?

The computer is going to be used for video editing, gaming and serious multi tasking. It doesnt necessarily need to be portable but would be use. You will be the only user. It will be stored in a garrage/office. Yes you do.
