Private companies invest far more into the internet than the public, and not everything using Linux or Unix is free. As for the programmers, I know many programmers, some of which are VERY good, and while all take pride in their work, none of them work for free and they all want more.

If you own a patent, then you have the right to sue should someone else infring on that patent. Its the entire reason for patents, to protect the intellectual property.
Now does Paul Allen need to sue for money? No. And he probably isn't doing it for money. It is to stop the infringement on the patents, and the best way to do that in the business world is not to ask politely, but to sue the pants off them as to make an example. It's a harsh thing to many of us pleebs, but you do not establish empires in business by being nice. 18

It really isn't a good idea to study for the ASVAB because it is not used to see what you can regurgitate, but what you know and how it can be applied to an MOS (or respective branch job category).
