Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / ARG!!!!
« on: August 30, 2004, 06:24:49 PM »
I just want to get Norton Ghost working so I can freaking make ghost images. I cannot get NDIS drivers OR Packet drivers, and I don't know which I need, and arg!!!!

Slightly off my angry rant, anyone know a good program where I can restore comps over a network, basically like Norton, cept not as much frustration.

I have a server set up, just fooling around with it so I can get some EXP with it, but I want to set up some normal server stuff, like having a server-wide anti-virus program, hosting my own website, ftp, mail(not needed, just a test), internet radio, capability to take drive images and restore them to the computer, again like norton ghost, have the option to monitor internet access, etc....

Any suggestions for programs?

Two of the most anticipated sequels to my favourite games, I wish so badly that they would come sooner. Half-Life 2 is being kept under firm wraps so that nobody will leak the story or key details, but from what planet:Half Life 2 had to say, it looks REALLY interesting.

Everquest 2 is going to be very different compared to the original, with a new type of tradskilling where the people are all the merchants and the smiths, etc.. meaning no NPC guys to go to. You will be able to buy land, which points to somebody gobbling up all the land in the beggining. It looks to be very interesting from what I can see, what do you guys think?

Political Opinions / Kerry or Bush
« on: August 29, 2004, 11:42:59 PM »
Just a few of the arguments between them, you decide:

Kerry:

Against the War
Wants to work on Healthcare, Environment, blah blah blah

Bush:

Obviously for the war
Wants to focus on War on Terror

and both are yelling and screaming at each other bout flip-flopping and bombing and such.

Political Opinions / Terrorist Threat in NYC
« on: August 29, 2004, 11:40:46 PM »
Anyone not heard about the recent finding of a couple guys, NOT associated with Al Qaeda (That makes me feel SOOOO much better, ugh), were planning to bomb the subway in NYC, and another bunch were planning to use ambulences and fire trucks and such to bypass security to detonate some bombs stuffed inside. All I can say is, why wasn't this happening during the DNC, is this media hype to get people interested, or are the terrorists actually attempting to take out Bush, or something similar.

Anarchy / Just an F.Y.I.

Got to Slashdot, look it up in google as I've been having trouble posting links, it is a VERY good site for those who have never heard of it, regarding everything geek. It is a quasi-forum, where some members post articles, and people can add comments to it. Very interesting, I would suggest all those who haven't been there at least once to check it out. You can learn a lot, and many of the people on the site are interesting, and some are of course stupid, but you can use a filter to get rid of the crap posts.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Career
« on: August 29, 2004, 11:29:00 PM »
I want to be something computer related. I think the best choice for me would be a Network Admin, but I don't know A) How promising the field is right now, B) The availability of jobs in my area, C) If I should consider doing programming instead, as programming seems to be a high paying and sought after job. I may of couse do a complete change and become a lawyer or something, maybe a scientist, but as of this time I love my computers, as I have for almost all of my known life. Please give me your opinions :)
