Kirk or Picard?
« on: June 08, 2008, 01:34:37 AM »

I grew up on Next Gen, and Picard has the diplomacy side down. But Kirk could get any woman from here to Andoria, and thats the type of dude that inspires me in my present state.

If they were under my command, I see each one as perfect for different applications. Kirk would be who you would want on the initial expeditionary group; he seems a bit tougher and rougher around the edges. Maybe that's because I'm thinking of Kirk from the 60's; and Picard from the 90's. Kirk's an old fart now. So I'm gonna go with the old school original series as my Kirk reference.
 Picard, on the other hand, seems he would be better at maintaining an established situation (his diplomacy), or a strategic command (his "bigger picture" way of thinking). In my Federation, Picard would probably outrank Kirk by an echelon; not because of their previous accomplishments, but because that's where I see they would be best suited.

 Kirk = Franks
 Picard = Petraeus

Kirk of course.  I seem to recall Picard having to get him to help save the universe.

As 12AX7 said, they're both suited to different tasks.

I gotta say I like Kirk as Captain though. Chicks beats talking any day.
