Title: X-mas gift for Mom.
Post by: Twizted on December 18, 2007, 04:16:02 PM
Ok. I love my mum to pieces. She raised me. Well, this year I want to get her a kick-butt gift. This year I want to crack her Comcast cable box (Moto 6412). I want her to have all of her "extra" channels for free. I know it can be done. I know this is unethical. But I would really love to blow her mind this year. Could you guys post a how-to? Please?

Mom,
I love you.  You gave up so much to give me the things that I needed in my life.  Sacrifice is the only real display of love.  That means so much to me.  The only way I could think of repaying you is to make you a felon.  No.. I didn't make a felon for you!  I turned YOU into a felon!  You don't have to thank me right now.  When you've been convicted and are serving time, be sure to write lots of letters telling me how much you appreciate the gift.

Merry Christmas!

THINK! It's not illegal yet. Rigging a Comcast box to get extra channels for free, however, is quite illegal.

What did I do wrong?
Really?  Seriously?
1. You want to turn you and your mother into criminals, AS A WAY TO SAY THANK YOU.
B. You asked us for help on how to turn the two of you into felons, thereby attempting to make us accessories before the fact.
III. You're a moron.
19. Just out of curiosity, if I posted a step-by-step guide on how to off yourself in a new and creative way, would you oblige me?

You may have good intentions (I want my mom to have an extra special Christmas gift) but how you wanted to go about doing it wasn't very good at all. If you're sure that she'd like expanded cable coverage, why don't you just contact the company directly and pre-pay for a years worth of service? I'm making a few assumptions in doing this, however. I'm assuming that you have a job that pays enough for you to afford such a gesture, for starters. If you can't do this, then just ask yourself what would your mother like that you would be able to LEGALLY deliver to her? Don't discount handmade items as well. You could take your time and craft her something nice and the extra effort you put into it will be sure to please her as well.  :-) Also, the Christmas day Brunch option is always nice as well.

You could commission a chalkboard drawing for her.

I'd work extra hard on it - what with you being a geekery OMGLOLWTFBBQ!!1!one!Eleven! member.

Every year, I get her something not so legal for Christmas. Last year, I gave her a discount on her electric bill. And the reason I do these things is because she enjoys them and that I'm better with  computers and electronics than I am with arts and crafts. The year before that, I caught my dad cheating on her, so I tapped into his call history and gave her the times and dates of all the calls made to his mistress. She especially enjoyed that one. She has no problem with the legality of the gift, as long as I'm using my brain. And that I'm doing something I enjoy. She's a wonderful mom.

P.S.- She used to be a DOS hacker.

Where's that smilie that beats his head against the wall over and over and over and over and over and over and over again?

This is the same kind of mother that teaches her children about the discounts available at your favourite retail outlet if you're willing to simply switch tags from one item to the next.  This is especially handy if the store does deep discount close-out items on a regular basis.

And they say parenting is a lost art.

Look, if you're going to please your mum by stealing, why not make it worthwhile? Rob a fucking bank or something. I'm sure she'd appreciate a big bag of cash. And more importantly, you'll enable her to pay for her cable and electric bills! I'm suprise you didn't come up with this on your own yet. I'm very dissapointed in you young man.

With what, nutritious organic fruits and vegetables grown right in your own home?

Not quite. I am somewhat familiar with straightedge culture and recognized some of the statements you made as common among those that  choose to follow that path.

Nothing special.

Sorry you missed the auction.  The winner picked up a custom work of art for only $0.99.  Quite the unique gift if you ask me.

He asked me to draw this, without the words.

This is the end result of the work.  The guy who won the auction got progressive pictures as the artwork was being created and he got the full size pic.  You just get this.
