Cheapest online music store?
« on: October 15, 2007, 07:12:01 PM »

So I have decided that I don't want to borrow anything off the internet anymore, games, movies, music. Let's face it if nobody buys this stuff they can't make it anymore. So what would be the best choice if I want to pay for monthly unlimited music downloads that I can also put onto a pda/ipod?

Not sure.  Just make sure it's not DRM-ridden filth.  Buying music sold with DRM only encourages the pigs to keep screwing artists and fans.

Wanting to pay for music is fine... but do it under your terms, not theirs.  Send a clear message that if you are willing to pay for music, you aren't willing to put up with them telling you when, how, and where you can listen to the music you purchase.

Oh yes, we need the big record companies, otherwise we wouldn't have great stars like Britney Spears.

Buy CDs from the bands when you go to their shows.  That's the best way to put money in the artists hands.

RIAA has been informed, please step away from the keyboard and wait patiently for the swat team to arrive.

Interesting article that describes a recent move by the RIAA.  In summary, they're now arguing that creating any copies of a CD that you bought and paid for is illegal.

What a bunch of cut-ups!

Har!

But seriously, if it was up to them, it would be illegal to describe a CD.

I heard if you buy it and listen to it more than once you'll be sued, sent to prison, and have your mandible removed.

Corrosion of Conformity.  Animosity album back when they were a three piece with just Woody, Reed, and Mike.

It made me think of an old joke we had in chat about people doing Live Action Role Playing (a.k.a. LARP) to the Call Of Cthulhu (a.k.a. CoC) roleplaying game.

There were lots of references to "CoClarping", which of course were meant in the dirtiest way possible.
