She is an American Bulldog actually with some unknown other breeds. I usually like to say I wasn't a dog person until I got her but my girlfriend likes to say I'm still no a dog person, I'm just a abby person.

I got a new cat recently. She finally came out from under the couch today. I don't have a picture of her yet. In fact...I don't even have a NAME for her! I haven't had a girl cat since I was a kid. I don't know how to name those ones.

Last time I named a pet was Cleo about 7 years ago. She just looks like a Cleo.

When in doubt, favourite female characters from books, tv, and movies are always good options.

I do volunteer work with cats, and can I tell you how awful some of the names are! The woman who has taken it upon herself to be in charge of naming them misspelled Frodo the other day as, "Frotto". Every time I pass his cage I cringe. Other winners: cagemates "Marsh" and "Mellow", "Jumping" and "Jacks", and, "Dusty Tail". She means well and loves these cats, but DAMN. Poor dears.

Haha, yeah it's Minerva.

Enrique wants to name her after me because she acts like me (a scaredy cat) and I think she acts more like him (needs alot of affection).

He's pointed out to me (and I never noticed this), that I prefer books/movies/shows with strong central male characters. Scarlet Pimpernel, Amadeus, Superman, etc. I can't think of any female characters that I really like. Eowyn was pretty good. But I don't like that name for a cat. I'll probably name her after a male character before I do a female one.

Maybe I should name her Catbot 3.1. And I'll act like I believe she's really a robot.

the cat you're talking about is minerva? you're renaming her? oh thank GOD! (may i say, for the record, that i've always believed she looks a molly?)

i love that cat dearly. i'm glad it's you that's taken her in and not some total stranger. she's such a fantastic cat- but yes, you're right. she needs A TON of affection. just be happy phyre got her fixed before she became yours- i'm sure you remember, it was a zillion times worse before!

i had a cat named kerouac, and when he died and was subsequently replaced, i named the new cat jack. i didn't put it together till almost a year later. i just really liked the name jack. this is what jack looks like when i wake him up from a nap to take a picture:

Yeah, she has white fur and one blue eye and one green eye. Very noisy too. Very much the premadonna.
