Anarchy / Lateness Policies
« on: March 15, 2012, 07:42:46 AM »
So, I figured that the Geek Forum community would be a good place to ask this question since there are so many different work places being represented here ranging from positions held in the IT industry to restaurant work.

My question is regarding the lateness policies that your organization has in place. Exactly what is it, and how is it carried out? Being an employee subject to that same lateness policy, do you think it is a fair policy? I ask because I have been tasked with having to revise an already existing (And badly broken) lateness / attendance policy, and I wanted to see what other organizations are doing from around the country and world.

Wait, 50 Cent's album isn't really 50 cents? I wonder how much Nickelback's albums are...

I re-enabled the feature that requires approval before new members can post crap. That should help ease the number of SPAM we see on the forums... at least for now.

It would have seemed as though for some reason there was a variable that was changed in a configuration file that caused the forums to virtually crap out.

All is well now, though!

Northeast, duh. Isn't that what we all speak in the United States?

For the time being, I have actually disabled new member registrations until I can install the SPAM mod to prevent spammers from registering. I figured it would be best that way.

Anarchy / WELCOME TO GEEKFORUM VIA SMF v2.0
« on: October 19, 2011, 09:33:17 PM »
As you can see, I've made the switch to the latest and greatest version of the SMF Forums. There is some work to be done in order to get the themes in order once again, and that will take some time to get straightened out.

If you notice any weird issues with the forums, please report them in this thread as I'll be checking back to identify and resolve any potential issues that there may be with the upgrade.

What you did there, I see that.

I have an Asus M4A89GTD Pro board with a 6 core AMD Phenom II processor.

You know, last night my computer did something weird, too.

It was running fine, then when viewing a web page it stopped displaying any video output, and just sat there. Monitors went into stand by and the hard drive kept spinning and fans kept running. I tried restarting it and nothing happened - same thing. I tried re-seating the RAM and nothing. It turned on, hard drive spun up and fans started turning but no beeps and no POST.

Finally I got the bright idea to reset the BIOS by clearing it with the jumper and afterwards it's been alright. I have restarted it and powered it off several times now with no issues.

I just think it's kind of ironic how we both had almost the same issue on the same night.

No idea what this topic is about really, but if you order a quarter pounder without cheese they have to make the burger fresh... Although I do love processed cheese.

This isn't true, actually.

If you order any beef sandwich without the meat seasoning (86 parts of salt to 14 parts pepper) the meat must be made fresh then.

All the test are timed, and I have been using lumosity to increase my brain power, and I have been looking into trachenbergs math program. My main area I need to work in is algebra. I know algebra, my focus is timing myself for each problem. 7 minutes for 18 problems; thats 39 seconds for each problem. Some I can figure out in 20 but others may take longer than a minute.

Negative.

English.

12 pounds in 2 months isn't difficult at all if you put your mind to it. Besides, you already achieved that weight-loss rate by losing 20 pounds in three months. Just be careful, the holidays are coming around, but with careful planning you can still get that goal. Keep truckin!

(I'm hanging around 196 right now myself. I'm looking to hit over 200, but that's really the complete opposite of this thread.)

Anarchy / Re: BIG SURPRISE!! Study: Alcohol is the most lethal drug
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:35:12 AM »
I read that earlier this morning. I think it's also the only legal drug in the study, too.

I can see where they are coming from since its usage is probably more widespread than any other drug they studied. However, I think the "harder" drugs tend to have quicker effects than alcohol does in terms of someone's overall well-being. By this I mean they may turn to crime in order to get their next fix, or they may take too much of it at once and die from an overdose.

I think the record around here is three DUI-related accidents within one day in one small town since I've been living out here in PA. So yea, you can say there's a bit of a drinking problem around here.
