New Geeks on the Block / Part-Time She-Geek

Hello!
My name is Jennfer and I'm a part-time geek. Most people know me as the 30-year-old genial mother of two adorable little girls, a friendly face at playgroup, and an active hand in the local synagogue. I'm a nice Jewish goil.
Little do they know by night or when I am alone, I turn into a raging geek! They know I am married to a tall lanky engineer who wears glasses, but most do not know I met him at our university's science fiction club where we served as co-presidents, or that I have countless bookshelves filled with sci-fi and RPG books, or that my DVR is stocked almost exclusively with doccumentaries and sci-fi television shows. They do not know I play World of Warcraft, sometimes later than I should, or that I still roleplay the part of triple-aspected Earth Goddess on a text-based internet game that I have been involved with for 10 years. They do not know I dabble in C programming soley so I can make the little creatures on my game do my bidding, or that I am secretly writing my own fantasy novel just for fun. They do not know that if what I'm reading isn't fantasy or sci-fi, it probably isn't fiction at all. They sometimes, but not always, know that when I get a rare opportunity for a babysitter, that the reason we go out to see X-Men III or whatever instead of some chick flick really is because we both like it that way!
It's not that I'm ashamed, it's just that most of the friends I see on a regular basis these days just wouldn't understand. Instead, I share with these friends my slightly-more-mainstream interests such as hiking, cooking, sewing, arts and crafts, and training at my local Aikido dojo.
A pleasure to meet y'all.
