Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Dedicated servers
« on: March 27, 2005, 04:19:33 PM »

Anarchy / Busy or Idle?
« on: March 04, 2005, 08:59:21 PM »
Some people like to busy themselves with work or school. They organize functions, volunteer, host parties, and the like. They go out with friends, hell, they HAVE friends. Always doing something.

Some people like to spend time at home, watch a movie by themselves, read a book, just do laundry, or simply stare out the back window. Hardly have any friends to speak of other than the passing connections they have made through life.

Some are privileged enough to have the best of both worlds. Which do you fit into?

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / mySQL Backups
« on: March 03, 2005, 08:34:23 AM »
So I was trying to upload my site backup tables since I screwed something up, and everytime I upload them it says 'The document contains no data'. I have opened the file and see all the tables there. So do you think the file is too big and the server is timing out? Can I slip it in half or do I need to split it more? It's 88 MB.

Anarchy / Digital Dialecte Closes its Doors
« on: March 01, 2005, 08:45:46 AM »
It’s been a great two years but the time has come. I no longer have the time or energy to devote to this site. I want to thank all who have helped me in the past with the coding of the site and those who donated for the purchase of new games. I am currently in the process of getting them moved over to the other site. So if you still need a place to go to waste time and play so games, please stop by!

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Help needed... again
« on: February 21, 2005, 08:45:14 PM »
I ask a lot, I know.

But I've been trying to make just enough money off my site to pay for a dedicated server. I can't see spending $60+ on something with no returns, ya know?

So my idea was to sell ad space in my sites newsletter. Initially I was given some resources for newsletters that looked a lot more professional than my current one, but for a fee (generally $30-150). Again, I don't want to spend more money than I am making.

Then I realized I could simply alter my current newsletter to look like this one and still use all the features I currently have on the site but for free! But ‘simply’ was not the case. I looked at the two different codes and suddenly went retarded.

My newsletter uses css and the code I stole from the trial newsletter has no css involved. My newsletter pulls information from my site, like current stories and custom html as well. I have no idea what I'm doing here and could really use some help.

I have attached the image of what I would like the newsletter to look like, the source code from the trial newsletter, and the tpl file of my current newsletter. It may all be in vain, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / HTTP Referrer
« on: January 27, 2005, 08:23:39 AM »
My Postnuke site has this module called http referrer, it basically shows all sites that link to you when people click the link and come to your site. well some people have figured out how to you this as advertising, which is kinda ridiculous since only the webmaster will see their stupid spam. its not too bad on digitaldialecte, but it is getting outta hand on drift411. on drift411, its car realted sites but there is clearly no link pointing to my site, I dont under stand this at all. my 'visits' have gone from 20-40,000 a month to 150,000 a month. I know that isnt accurate and its screwing up my statistics. anyone have any ideas on how to stop it?

For a couple of weeks now I have had this problem:

I turn on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1100) and at first after about a half hour up to an hour all the sudden my keys would automatically turn into hot keys. So while I'm typing I hit 'm' and all my windows minimize, I hit 'n' and the narrator would come up, and so on. The only way I could fix it was to restart my computer which is very, very annoying.

But now it happens anywhere from one minute of being on to 10-15 minutes of being on. I can’t get anything done! HELP!

Anarchy / Sooo...
« on: December 05, 2004, 07:02:19 PM »
In blatent disregard to ivans post about not making a post, I decided to make a post. But my post will have a valid topic, the trick is to figure out what the topic is.

I often have no idea what myself and others around me are tallking about as I tend to wander from thought to thought in no particular order, thus losing the original topic at hand.  I once sat through an entire speech at some dinner given by someone having no idea why I was there, how I got there, and what it was all about or if in fact it was at all real. I could have been dreaming because I could've sworn that I never really left the house except to go to work and to the store.

Now going to the store is really tricky for me. I don't really like the general public and their baggage that they tend to carry around with them causing them to flip out over nothing and taking it out on the poor schmoe that happened to be working that day at their lovely minimum wage job. So staying at home works best for me.

But I tend to not do anything at all and... ooooooo

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I'm still trying to figure this one out at the age of 28 (soon to be 29). There are just too many damn choices these days. And you have to narrow each of those down using happiness factors, financial factors, gettin booty factors...its mind-boggling!

Being worthless is pretty easy and mostly fun, but theirs not a lot of money involved and you probably wont get laid, so that sucks.

Being CEO or something similar gets you lots of money, but happiness probably isn’t on the list since you'll be too busy for it and the same could go for sex, depending on how young you are by the time you make it there.

Then there is sky diving instructor or ski instructor both of which have to be fun jobs and if you are good looking enough or at least have a great personality you are bound to get your share, my share, and all the ladies husbands share of the booty, and does anyone know how much they make? Might be worth looking into there.

Those are just a few off the top of my head, what are your thoughts?

Anarchy / Gaming Forum
« on: July 15, 2003, 01:22:32 PM »
I thought since some of you geeks pay games, not those mind games, or sex games, or what have you, but the real nerdy stuff like Warcraft and The Sims, you might be interested in the forum I've been working on. It’s nothing great or fantastic but a pretty decent forum at least. Filled with news, game releases, reviews, and stuff. Filled with lots of purdy images and the like. I have a whopping 20 members and one moderator that doesn’t even come around anymore. Sounds exciting doesn’t it?! Anyway, drop on by if you want, stick around if you like. The blog is still there too.

Anarchy / Good books
« on: May 02, 2003, 03:55:47 PM »
I'm always looking for some good books to read. I like Sci-Fi & Fiction the most. In the past I've read Irving, Vonegut, Rice, Rand, Tolkien, and others along that line. But they've teetered off and I have no idea who I like anymore. I recently read The Da Vinci Code and liked it a lot. Currently reading the Celestine Prophecy and so far it blows, but I always finish a book. Any suggestions?

New Geeks on the Block / Yet another new member
« on: April 09, 2003, 08:53:24 AM »
Hi. My name is pseudo. I live on the second floor.

I prolly won’t post much because I never really have anything interesting to say. I just read everybody else’s post and sometimes reply. I’m not very articulate and I suck at debate.

So anyway, I read almost anything, except for romance novels (I’ll leave those for my mom and grandmother). I recently ordered the book, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown; hopefully it will be a good one. My favourite color is grey, not gray. I built my first web page recently (although it kinda blows). I have three cats (Azrael, Gabriel, and Zoë) and a boyfriend named Syn (cool name). I am a frequent user of the habit forming drug known as HN forums. I enjoy using punctuations marks and spell check. I like emo and indie music as well as almost every other kind of music (I even like some Rammstein, Mal).

That is all for now. Thanks.
