Will think about this later, but know that one molucule H2O has by far not the same properties as a droplet of water.

Homework Help / Re: Time to frequency / frequency to frequency
« on: October 09, 2009, 06:54:37 AM »
Hmm can you explain what you mean by time and frequency domain?

Because you can just put j*omega in front of L and 'make it in the frequency domain'. The faster a current oscillates (the higher the frequency, the lower the oscillation time), the higher the impendance of a coil due to self induction.

You make me wonder where frequency enters your problem. On here you are only talking about the maths on (complex) voltages and impedances .

^I'm completely aware of the definition of the word and its use is intended.

Racist.
Why's that? You're saying patriots are by definition racists?

Been there, done that. At least, for 2 people.

Picture a bowl of 365 balls. Person 1 picks a ball, writes his name on it and puts it back.
Then Person 2 picks a ball.
The chance person 2 picks the ball person 1 picks is 1/365.

So far for 2 people.

For 3 people, the chance person 2 picks the ball person 1 has is 1/365 (0,2740%)
The chance that its not the case is 1-1/365=(364/365) =
In that case person 3 picks a ball. For person 3 there are 2 balls forbidden, so his chance to pick something bad is 2/365. So the chance that 3 persons have the same ball is: 1/365 + (364/365))(2/365) = 0,2740% + 0,5464% = 0,8204% note, 0,5464 != (does not equal) 2*0,2740)

for 4 people the chance of 2 people having the same ball is 1/365
in case not, the chance of 3 people having the same ball 1/365 + (364/365))(2/365)
in case not, the chance of 4 people picking the same ball is 1/365 + (364/365))(2/365) + (1-(1/365 + (364/365))(2/365)))(3/365) = 0,2740% + 0,5464% + 0,8152% = 1,656%

For 5: (1-1,1656%)(4/365) = 1,0831%
Total chance: 0,2740% + 0,5464% + 0,8152% + 1,0831% = 2,739%

For 6: (1-2,739%)(5/365) = 1,332%
Total chance: 4,071%

For 7: (1-4,071%)(6/365) = 1,577%
Total chance: 5,648%

For 8: (1-5,648%)(7/365) = 1,809%
Total chacne: 7,457%

For 9: (1-7,457%)(8/365) = 2,028%
Total: 9,485%

For 10: (1-9,485%)(9/365) = 2,231%
Total: 11,716%

For 11: (1-11,716%)(10/365) = 2,419%
Total: 14,135%

For 12: 2,588%

Yay, 23 people.
I might be off 1 or 2 because of roundings

Some stuff need to be added to make this work for 3 people which. I estimate 62 people. I'd have to calculate it numerically because for 3 people things get a lot longer, but the idea is the same as above.

Would be interesting to see what function it is for N amount of people to have 50/50 chance to have the same birthday.

Where is the multi smite button? Stupid trollers.

On topic; I can't really see what's wrong in being patriotic, in the sense of being proud of your country and its origin. Good basis principles are worth (fighting for) keeping.

Homework Help / Re: My teaches task (very hard math)
« on: August 28, 2009, 11:20:22 AM »
Hello i wonder if some of you are good in math?

so well i got this task for my teacher, and i wonder if any of you can solve it? :p

A watertank got volum at 200 litre with water.

The water is adjusted to 70*C and that water that comes inn to the tank is 10*C. on the watertank there is a sign that says: up to 2000W
with 230 V. the effectdegree is at 0,95.

Now find out the power that it takes from the powernett.

how many kWs you need to warm up the water from 10*C to 70*C

Note the warmcapatity is at 1,16 Wh/(kg * k ) = 4.186 kJ / (kg * K )

how long time with it take to heat up the water?

take what you pay for your power were you live, and find out what you need to pay to warm up the water in the watertank

well hope some of you can find out this :)

sorry for my bad english :D

Yay for heat capacity

Translation: Warmth in equals mass * Heat capacity * Temperature difference

Assuming 1 kg water = 1 L;

Q = 200 kg * 4.186 * (70-10)    (note, it doesnt matter whether you do this in degrees celcius or kelvin)
here you have Q in kJ.
= about 48 MJ

But unfortunately the machine isnt perfect. With an efficiency of 19/20 you need 20/19 more so thats 50,5 MJ

1 kWh = 3,6 MJ, so 50,5 MJ = 50,5/3,6 = 14 kWh needed

2000W = 2000J/s= 2 kJ/s = 0,002 MJ/s. So for 50,5 MJ needed are 50,5/0,002 = 25000 s, or 7 hours.

For the price you'll have to look yourself how much 1 kWh costs; 14 kWhs are easy to calculate then.

Use a mobile phone with customisable alarms. - Its good.
Or use a really dull talk show as radio alarm. Remarkably enough it does get your brains going and wakes you up.

So there is this footballplayer playing a match, but everytime he shoots wide he yells: "Damnit I missed".
A priest who is watching the game says to him "If thou says that one more time, God's lightning will strike you down where you stand!"

So when the footballplayer misses again, and again says "damnit I missed"; suddenly a lightning bolt strikes and annihilates the priest. And directly after that a booming voice was heared from the skies: "Damnit I missed!"

I've played the trial. Was ok, I had fun playing an undead and a human priestess hot chick, but didnt get attached (should I say; gratefully?).
I'm totally into Civilization 4, though. Play it nearly every day for at least 2 hours.
