Oops...
I thought we had until next Sunday night to reply... which assuming a uniform distribution would've put the expected maximum value at 3.5 days past Monday, with the mode being 4 days past (Fri)...

If I'd read it correctly then I would've come up with Wed giving the expected maximum number of points... which seems would have been correct :(

Adobe should DIAF....

Yeah, I ran into Flash not properly updating several times.

Every now and then it simply will not update until you've nuked the old installation from orbit.

Doesn't help that the Specialized uninstaller program is buried in Adobe's site.

Ok, THIS is the crux of the proof. Now you just have to algebra the numbers to show who is paying what mean.

106
Ok, Here's another tidbit

When I said I was being mean. That was a clue

107
Strictly speaking, the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality isn't absolutely necessary to solve the problem. Perhaps I just felt like being mean.

But what if there were two n dimensional vectors, the lengths of which described Adam and Bob's respective averages?

However, the craziest customer I ever helped, BY FAR, was a woman who was convinced that several huge corporations were after her. Disney was after her because she knew, or could prove, that one of their characters was plagiarized, and some huge fashion company was hacking into her computer to steal her knitting or crochet patterns.

How did she know someone was stealing her stuff? because sometimes her screen would flash as though someone were photographing it!

Back when I worked retail (I'm paraphrasing here)...

Customer: "I'd like to return this notebook computer"

Me: "Ok, what seems to be the trouble"

Customer: "It just shuts off after awhile"

I turn on the computer, it seems just fine

Me: "How long did it take to shut off before?"

Customer: "A few hours"

Me: "A few hours? Did you have it plugged in?"

Customer: "No"

Me: "Well, the battery probably just ran out. They only run 4-5 hours on the battery"

I don't remember the exact details after that, but we ended up doing the return since it was within a few days of the purchase.

Insufficient data.

But, assuming that the sugar is priced per pound, and Adam and Bob are both using dollars, then Adam and Bob are both paying the same price for the sugar, and purchasing the same amount of sugar per dollar. So neither has an advantage, unless you postulate that the sugar at the top of the barrel is qualitatively different from the sugar deeper down in the barrel (provided the sugar is in fact stored in barrels), in which case either Adam or Bob gets the best deal over time, depending on whether the sugar at the top is better or worse than the sugar deeper down, and provided that a new barrel is cracked open on Sunday or Monday morning, or some time Tuesday or Wednesday morning, which is totally not determined. Provided also that we're looking at a sufficiently long period of time, so that the fluctuations of the dollar versus the value of sugar as a commodity is evened out.

What's a Monte Carlo solution?

A Monte Carlo solution would be generating random prices and calculating who gets the best Dollar to pounds of sugar ratio.

You can use it to find the right answer, you just can't use it as a proof.

It seems to be the cool thing to do, so here you go:

Adam buys one kilogram of sugar every Monday.
Bob buys one dollar's worth of sugar every Wednesday.
The price of sugar may change on Sundays only.

Who gets the best deal over time? Justify your answer.

Monte Carlo solutions will not be accepted.

Ok so what happened was this one time Randy Beeman was in his kitchen looking for a snack and he opened up the refrigerator and inside the refrigerator was a jar of yogurt and he started eating the yogurt and then Randy Beeman's mom came in and she asked him what he was doing and he said he was eating yogurt but then she said, "That isn't yogurt."

K, bye

It's quite simple.

That series of numbers represents the puzzle you're presenting.

I don't use Linux because it doesn't allow me to easily blame my computer problems on other people.

and I love blaming other people.

Also this is my post number 223, which is a prime number
223 is the fourth Carol number and the third to be prime.
223 is the sum of three consecutive primes (71 + 73 + 79), the sum of seven consecutive primes (19 + 23 + 29 + 31 + 37 + 41 + 43), and the smallest number requiring 37 fifth powers for Waring representation
This post is brought to you by the number 223

Some schools have some pretty slutty schedules.
