Got water and pine needles everywhere in the house and carpet now smells like piss. Instructions were unclear.

Reminds me of a dorm I used to live in.

So far so good with the theme.  Everything seems to be working for me.  I like it.

I could bitch about my job all day.

With that said, lately I'm noticing my hours have been creeping up again and I always know where that's heading.

So I've been making a (semi-successful) effort to not go in any earlier than 7:30-ish in the am, and to pretty much force myself to be home by 6:00 pm.

I got to be the only person I know who didn't like Edge of Tomorrow. So I guess I'm the minority report.

That movie works too.

I like time travel movies, so sue me.

Chris, if you'd like more - I have a list.  Of time travel movies.

I've got some good and useful ones to share that I use all the time.

  • Checker Plus for Gmail: Good little mail doohickey
  • Checker Plus for Google Calendar: Good little calendar doohickey
  • Ghostery: A good and useful counterpart to adblocking.  It tends to block a lot of things that adblockers do not. Excellent web surfing privacy features
  • Google Keep: I keep a lot of notes and junk in this.  Syncs effortlessly with your Google cloud, Android app works nice too.
  • Greenhouse: Know who owns your politicians.
  • HTTPS Everywhere: 100% must have. Forces HTTPS anywhere it's available, even if you don't type it.  This one's actually made by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.  Throw them a donation while you're at it, they deserve your support.
  • Magic Actions for Youtube: Makes Youtube usable.  No ads, force HD, a bunch of other really nice options and annoyance disablers.
  • Stylish: Take control of your user experience.  TONS of user created styles for lots of websites available (at http://www.userstyles.org), and you can create your own.
  • Kami: Good, full featured in-browser PDF reader that's way better than Chrome's native one.  I use this one a lot.

You aren't secretly this guy, are you?

I'm reasonably sure I'm not, but I'll have to check and get back to you.

Sticky Stuff (no pun intended) / What game are you playing lately?
« on: November 10, 2016, 08:29:30 PM »
I'm not much of a video gamer, but I love Diablo 2 Expansion (it's probably my favourite game), so I still play that a lot.  Lately I've discovered that I'm good at speed running it, so I've been doing that with some experimental Assassin character builds.

Attached is a quick screenie of one such experiment (normal mode, since I was testing a build approach to get me through normal mode Acts 1 & 2 as fast as possible).  With this particular character, I beat Andariel at 11th level and Duriel at 15th, total time on par with current world record pace.

What I'm working on is optimizing each stretch of the game so that if I'm playing a full speed run all the way through, I have the character build for each section down pat and don't need to fiddle with it (which costs precious minutes).

What have you been playing lately?

I watched part of one episode.  That was all I could take.

I might just nitpicky, but I can't get over how unreal all of it feels. It feels like a thirteen year old girl wrote it. Especially if you watch it from the perspective of the waitress being the main character. Then it's really bad, like, teenage girl, confused erotica, bad.

This sums it up well for me.

Managed IT, managed voice, managed print services, managed AV (boardroom, security, telepresence), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Desktop as a Service (DaaS), and we're working on Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) as an offering very soon.

Right now our footprint is only in the upper midwest.  We're in MN, ND, SD, IA, NE, WI, IL, MT, and MO.

I'd share those, but all of my time is taken up lately by the video game I'm coding in VB.
