Other than Adolf or Adolph, what are the alternative spellings?  I'm asking a serious question here.

Then you are reading me wrong.

Um, no? You remember the conversations we already had about how many millions of Muslims AREN'T violent and extremist? And how I said (over and over) that I was talking about the extremists; and was wondering why the majority was relatively silent. You have a tendency to color me one way
without taking what I actually said into consideration. Please stop. I don't think the majority of Muslims are terrorists any more than you believe all southern white males are racist, backwards redneck members of the KKK. Or that either of us believe most Christians follow texts such as Leviticus, etc.
The difference is it is ok to point out how fucked up or bigoted or just plain retarded any of those groups are - except Islam. Why is that?
If a significantly sized Christian group violently attacked America, and vowed to do it again and again; I would probably be just as concerned with them as well. If they were on a terror watch list, and somehow were OK'ed to rally at the White House to promote Old Testament laws be the Law of the Land; I would be irritated at that too. But I don't post those things because I dont see it happening. Except from vocal Muslims; who apparently are mostly in favour of that rather than assimilation (ie;, UK, France, Germany)
I thought I was pretty clear that it was MY perception and that I could be misreading you.  But, you want me to stop?  Fine, I'll stop.  I am done engaging in the conversation when the topic is Muslims or Islam.

huh. well you see a lot more browns than blacks where I live.

Please explain, because regardless of where you live I don't see how this is even possible.  The brown recluse is, by definition, reclusive.  It hides.  Black widows on the other hand, come out every night.  They sit on their web and eat things, just like other spiders do.  While there might not be one in your living room, there may well be one right outside your back door, out there in the open (provided that it's nighttime) for all to see.

Issue?  I'm just pointing it out. There is a rally, at the White House, organized by extremists. That doesn't concern you in the slightest? If this were the KKK, I'd bet my life savings your comments would be more along the lines of how ignorant, racist and hateful that group is and what they want to do, etc. Why A L W A Y S the kid gloves with anything Islam?
First, if it was the KKK, I also would shrug and basically say, "Whatever".  The Bill of Rights is the home base that I run to on this ALWAYS.  "...the right to peaceably assemble..."  Doesn't matter how abhorrent I find an ideology, in the Unites States they (whoever "they" may be) have the right to protest.  This particular extremist group's protest doesn't concern me from a security standpoint because I know they're on watch lists the world over.

Second, it's not always kid gloves with Islam.  Truth is, Islam is something that only rarely comes up in my conversations.  I run to their defense with you specifically, because almost every time I see you post something about it/them, it's about how violent and extremist they all are.  I could totally be misreading you, but my perception is that you are bent on believing that Muslims and Islam itself are all terrorists or would-be terrorists.  I've tried to point out to you that I know many Muslims who aren't much different from you or me, and your response was basically, "sure, everyone 'knows' the peaceful ones, but why do i never hear about them on the news" (or something like that).  So in short, I defend because you attack.  I'm a sucker for the underdog.   :-D

Because it is irrelevant. It really doesnt matter if those individuals come here at all if they have support already here.

"Mr Choudary said the March rally was organised by the Islamic Thinkers society, an extremist group based in New York."

Yes, and I would bet my life's savings that this group is on the terrorist watch list.  Hell, one of it's high-profile members (one of the guys named in the article) did time for inciting terrorism or something like that.  More importantly, just like all propagandists these people claim grassroots support in the country they want to take over (i.e. the U.S.).  Hell, he says flatly, "I think the American people’s hearts and minds are open to receive Islam as an alternative way of life. We expect thousands to come out and support us."  He's clearly very deluded.

Or, is your issue that this particular extremist group exists in the United States?   :-)

cleric to lead White House protest calling for Muslims to 'rise up and establish Islamic state in America'

You left out this part of the article.

"However, whether the three will be able to enter the U.S., especially Izzadeen, remains to be seen. Even a tourist visa requires applicants to answer questions on whether they have been involved in acts of terrorism or plan to commit crimes in the U.S"

They only like places where humans are inactive and/or infrequent. Your bed should be a-ok.
While that is generally true, it's not a guarantee.  Black widows have been found under the covers of the bed.  In fact, a number of years ago, a little girl died from being bitten repeatedly by a black widow that was in her bed.

I'm kinda curious how this will play out in Libya.  I mean, Qadaffi (or however the hell you spell it) has appeared to be chilled out for many years recently, but that doesn't mean he's not still batshit crazy.  Be interesting to see if he lays the military smackdown on his people now that they've started the protests.

EDIT: And, WOW, did I butcher that spelling.  Apparently it's spelled 'Gadhafi'.

12, have you considered that Obama wasn't out there just spouting his own personal opinion?  My understanding has always been that when a president speaks on foreign affairs, the words are pretty much written by the state department.  At a minimum the state department would vet any remarks prepared by the president's speech writers when it comes to foreign affairs.  I only mention it because maybe the president isn't who you should be embarassed by...maybe you should be embarassed by the entire approach to foreign policy.   :-)

12, I certainly wasn't trying to to play the "well, Bush did it too" card.  I think more than anything, I was responding to your comment that "it's just easier to pick when it's someone you don't like anyway".  I agree with you, it is.  I also agree with you in general terms that we should just stay the hell out of it entirely.  I think the point I was trying to make was (because you don't like him anyway) that he's offering an opinion, which is a far cry from what his predecessor did, and by comparison is - yes - less wrong (all IMHO of course).

It's perfectly consistent with the current policy of interference in foreign affairs that's been the norm lately.

Oh, I'm sorry-- you were talking about Obama? These presidents all seem to run together these days.
Also ^

I don't see how it's any different than ordering troops into Iraq to topple a dictator and install a U.S. friendly democratic-type government.  Oh, wait, I do see a difference.  Obama's not actually ordering troops into Egypt to topple that dictator and install a U.S. friendly democratic-type government.  He's offering his opinion that a dictator step down now for the general good and safety of the people living in that country.

I get what you're saying, TD, and I totally agree with you.  I don't mean that it should be used when it's not an honest feeling.  I'm talking about a situtation where you actually do fuck up, and actually did hurt someone's feelings when you didn't intend to.

I mean, really, the following sentence ends the hostilities.

"I'm honestly not sure exactly what I did, but I know that it hurt your feelings, and I am sorry for that."

Done.  Hostilities ended.  You're off the hook, and possibly even getting laid.  But, nooooooo.  Instead we get to dance around the issue and claim ignorance and blah blah blah blah blah.  To the men that are reading this, memorize that sentence and I promise you that 95 out of 100 times you do something wrong, that will fix it.

:x

Here's a question.  Why is it that men can't just apologize??!!!!??!!  A simple, heartfelt 'I'm sorry' would totally get you fuckers off the hook, but nooooooo.  Is it genetic?  Is it something that just automatically comes with a Y chromosome?

Well, first the dinosaurs came.  But they got too big and fat, so they died.  Then the Arabs came, and they bought Mercedes-Benzes.
