To advertising developers:

Ya know, a "family" includes males. An actual "family" usually has a Father, you know; a MAN. Generally, it's not just a woman and her daughter or two. Or a woman and her best friend and their daughters.

But whatever. You'll reap the rewards of pop culture when you have three or four generations of young males believing they don't belong in the ideal family. When these males tire of being shown how their presence totally ruins an ideal family, and they become resentful, cynical, and more misogynistic than ever before; you can hit rewind and watch your decades of adverts again for an explanation.

 My favourite 'vegetarian' meal:

4 slices of fresh"wonderbread" (so fresh it sticks to the roof of your mouth)
1 jar of Duke's REAL Mayonnaise
1 'big' spoon  (not sure if its the Tablespoon or a Teaspoon; but its the larger one)
1 big, fat, juicy, red beefsteak tomato
 1 Slicing knife
1 container suitable for shake-applications with black pepper in it

Using the spoon, smear mayo on one side of each of the four slices, as thick or as thin as you like.

Using the container of pepper, shake a bit onto the mayonnaise smeared on the bread (all four slices)

Using the slicing knife, slice the tomato into two thick, even slices, and two thick-to-thin angled slices.

Eat the tail end of the tomato left over from the cutting.

Place one even tomato slice on one slice of bread; on the mayo/pepper side (do this twice; once for each thick even slice)

Arrange the angled slices to take up the rest of the un-tomato area on each slice of tomato laden bread.

Place the mayo/peppered/UNtomatoed slices of bread onto the tomatoed slices; mayo side down.

Pour tall glass of sweet iced tea; not mentioned in the list above, and place beside sandwiches.

Roll fat joint not mentioned in list above, and place beside sandwiches.

Admire and give thanks for that f**kin awesome meal you're about to enjoy.

Anticipate...

Enjoy!

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: The South
That's a Southern accent you've got there.  You may love it, you may hate it, you may swear you don't have it, but whatever the case, we can hear it.

So... We're going to detect spammers by giving spammers our email addresses?

Um... no. The email addresses are already there; and we'd be telling people (in the TOS) to send a mod a copy of their intro. If spammers haven't found and used our emails by now; why would they if we put that in the TOS? We aren't giving spammers anything. Not sure how you got that.

I didn't read the TOS.

 You're already a member.

We don't have to do it. It was just an idea. We've only gotten a few real people who actually wanted to sign up in the past few years anyway, and almost all of those are already gone (except the cool ones like Wunderkind). I figured since we make a big deal of reading the TOS; that would be a good place to put an instruction for potential real members. If they read it and send us an email; we can be pretty certain it's a real person interested in joining rather than a spammer or bot, or someone just looking to post "HELP ME!" and then disappear.
We can certainly use a different, single email address checked by all. I just figured since our profiles have email addys for members already, it would be sensible to just use those. But I'm game for whatever; to include ditching the idea entirely.

Seems like we get a manageable number of real applicants anyway, so I dont think it would be overwhelming.
Everyone else just gets rejected automatically.

What do y'all think about putting a requirement somewhere in the TOS that anyone wishing to become a member email any mod or admin a copy of their intro post. When we get said email, we'll know its a real person who 1. read the TOS, and 2. actually wishes to become a member - enough to pick a mod and email us.

Just an idea. I haven't 'woodshedded' it yet, so have at it.

92
- also; I should point out that although they don't mention cats; my cat will be
raisin-less and grape-less from now on as well as my dogs. Just in case.

93

Ok, I usually delete all the "OMG!!" emails I get; but this one I decided to pass
the info along. I know a lot of us have pets. I've given my dog and cat oatmeal -raisin
cookies without knowing it could make him (teh Dog) very sick. He never showed any signs of
illness; but then again he didn't get very many cookies, either.

At any rate, here's the info - in the form of an "OMG!!!!" email. I just dont feel like paraphrasing
when I'm so good at copy/paste. :-)

Laurinda Morris, DVM
Danville Veterinary Clinic
Danville , OH

This week I had the first case in history of raisin
toxicity ever seen at MedVet. My patient was
a 56-pound 5 yr old male neutered lab-mix
that ate half-a-canister of raisins sometime
between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM on Tuesday. He
started with vomiting, diarrhea and shaking about
1 AM on Wednesday but the owner didn't call
my emergency service until 7 AM (6 hrs later).

I had heard somewhere about raisins AND
grapes causing acute Renal failure but hadn't
seen any formal paper on the subject. We
had her bring the dog in immediately. In the
meantime, I called the ER service at MedVet,
and the doctor there was like me - had heard
something about it, but... Anyway, we
contacted the ASPCA National Animal Poison
Control Center and they said to give IV fluids
at 1 & 1/2 times maintenance and watch the
kidney values for the next 48-72 hours.
The dog's BUN (blood urea nitrogen) level was
already at 32 (normal less than 27) and his
creatinine was over 5 (1.9 is the high end of normal).
Both are monitors of kidney function in the
bloodstream. We placed an IV catheter and
started the fluids. Rechecked the renal values
at 5 PM and the BUN was over 40 and creatinine
over 7 with no urine production after a liter of
fluids. At that point I felt the dog was in acute
renal failure and sent him on to MedVet for a
urinary catheter to monitor urine output overnight
as well as overnight care.
He started vomiting again overnight at MedVet
and his renal values continued to increase
daily. He produced urine when given Lasix as a
diuretic. He was on 3 different anti-vomiting
medications and they still couldn't control his
vomiting. Today his urine output decreased
again, his BUN was over 120, his creatinine was
at 10, his phosphorus was very elevated and his
blood pressure, which had been staying around
150, skyrocketed to 220 ... He continued to vomit
and the owners elected to Euthanize.

This is a very sad case - great dog, great owners
who had no idea raisins could be a toxin.
Please alert everyone you know who has a dog of
this very serious risk.
Poison control said as few as 7 raisins or grapes could
be toxic. Many people I know give their dogs grapes
or raisins as treats including our ex-handler's. Any
exposure should give rise to immediate concern.
Chocolate, cocoa, onions, avocadoes and macadamia nuts can
be fatal, too. Add to this - rising bread dough, caffeine and alcohol
and you have the list of the greatest food dangers for dogs.

Awesome.  Did someone hack the site? Or was it just getting old?

At any rate; we appreciate the work, time, and money you put into this site for us. You're an awesome
