Haha I've had about the same thing with my nick. I started it 3 years ago sighing up for an online RPG text game, and I've used it ever since.

Free from RPG is pretty cool, if you get the right and creative people for it.

Thanks for the replies, people.
A new hobby to replace the evenings sounds good, and going out more too. I actually have a gf and luckily I don't even think of computers when she is around, so it isnt that bad yet :). We've been together now for 1,5 years and is a real asset to me. Probably should phone her more often. The thing is, we only meet in the weekends, because we both study in another city (1 hour travel though) which is quite sucky.

And thanks for the tip Dark Shade of putting 1 day blank. Though I'm not sure if I got the discipline to do that... Actually I don't think I can do that yet, it would just make me feel more guilty when turning the computer on.

Helpfull story, xolix. I have been starting to question your question to myself too now.
Its typical what I did these weekend though, I left my laptop at my student room instead instead of bringing it to my parent's house (I allways visit in weekends) just to not get to into temptation. I've played some Fifa World Championship 1998 on my old pc, but I don't feel bad about that. I've studied much better without the laptop.

Civilization 4 is my main addiction. Perhaps I should quit that, but I could starting playing another game pretty easily I fear.

I've allways had the feeling I spent too much time behind the screen, and since I read up on computer addiction I really think I have it. I've been playing games like civilization 4 too long on-line, missing college the following day. I lie to my friends and family about how much time I spend on the computer.
In general, it interferes with my life, badly, not taking responsibilities, the computer is a hiding place for me when i feel bad or sad and that is not right. I

Any help/tips you can give me? Own experience perhaps?
Most obvious is to create a tight schedule of when I can go on the pc and when not, but I'm not sure if I can.

What I find is that to live, something needs to think for itself what to do. Free will has been mentioned before in this topic. Well, virus are only capable of manipulate living things and cannot think of their own. They have no "code of laws" as in a DNA string which an organism can find help on when engaging problems.

I never understood why some Muslims would deny that the holocaust exist.

Is it because of the Israel - Palestina issue?

Its not necessary to terraform an entire planet before we can colonize a planet. We can very well live in tubes for a while and put on funky suits when we go outdoor if necessary.

Well I'm sure that good old Uncle Sam would start out with a monopoly on Mars for the first little while, let's say a few decades. This could keep going for as long as the colonists would be dependant on supplies from earth. After that I see no reason why a revolution wouldn't be forthcoming, due to the extreme distance between the two 'nations'.
You can compare it to colonization with sailships in the 17th and 18th century. Colonies used to be hold by the supressor fairly easily. But indeed, there comes a time sooner or later when the locals refuse the initial authority.
Though there is a difference. Communication can go much faster, at the speed of light. That will lessen the chance of revolution.

If the topic of this thread is stolen anti-matter.

Wouldn't that be the same as matter given?
No, not directly.

From the beginning of our universe the two types of matter have existed, and so they do now. Whenever an antimatter thingy reaches the same matter thingy they annihilate and become pure energy.
(The amount of energy is equal to the loss in mass (of both particles) and mulitplied by the speed of light to the power 2. Or, simply, E=mc^2. Yes folks, the magic formula :D Energy can be turned into mass and vice versa! Just as I can say I weigh 75 kg I can say I consist of 6.74066384 × 10^21 Joules.)

Back to the point, if you steal anti-matter, the amount of matter stays the same, at that moment. As stated above, they are both 'real' particles. You can't make up the difference between a anti matter spoon and a matter spoon. If you take the anti matter spoon out, you just got 1 spoon left.

However, energy reacts constantly with anti matter and matter and if you take some anti matter 'out', that balance is disturbed. With the effect that some matter is turned into antimatter, reinstating that balance. So, yes, in time there will be less matter if you take out some anti matter.

(The process of antimatter into matter is slightly favoured over the process of matter into antimatter. That is why we call our matter that way. If it were the other way around, we would consist of antimatter now and call 'matter' our 'antimatter'.)

Entertainment / Re: Why so few "choose-your-own-adventure" type books?

I think good authors do wager the possibilities, but they simply pick out the most exciting plot.

"If the universe is knowable, will humans ever know it?" What kind of question is that?
I say, an interesting question, therefore this topic :)

We will never know everything. There will always be one question that will remain: Do we know everything yet?

How can you prove that you do?
I tend to think by a proof by contradiction. So that if you add something new to the Knowledge, you can proove that it can't exist.

I agree, I would hate to live in a 'finished' world, but that's another discussion.

Fine, swap truth with facts if you want.

Well, actually, this has been philosophy all along. Science flew out the window right after the "(Assuming the universe is limited)" bit.
I don't know where you base this on. The greater part of the astronomists believe the universe is limited. Assuming that is not at all throwing science away. Besides, if we don't assume the universe is limited, we'll never know all the facts.

And, for a more deeper thought, is science not a form of philosophy (literally: love of wisdom)? Scientists need to think, need to understand, need to be wise first before engaging in an experiment. You can in my eyes define science as practical philosophy.

Wikipedia writes: philosophy differs from science in that philosophy's questions cannot be answered empirically
