Yesterday the Young Democratic Socialists club at my university sponsored and ran a conference called "What Now: Activism in Post-election America." I belong to this club, and so I had the excellent opportunity of meeting John Perkins and Greg Palast.

The red arrow is pointing to me, the brown arrow is pointing to Greg Palast and the green arrow is pointing to John Perkins. The rest are members of William Paterson University's chapter of Young Democratic Socialists. The man standing to the right of John Perkins is our president, who did a fantastic job of organizing the event (which is the biggest activism-oriented event ever sponsored by our school).

Among other things, we networked during the conference. We're hoping to use many of the connections we made with students from other universities to form a sort of student union, which will allow us to put pressure on the state.

There was also a seminar about effective protest which was very informative.  :wink:

Just make sure that no more than one person per cell ever has contact with any other cell. It makes it that much harder for moles to bring the entire network down.

Yeah, it was down to my shoulders for a while.  Every time I went to the barber with my dad while we were out running errands, the barber'd offer me a free buzzcut in jest...one day I said, "What the hell?", and took him up on his offer.  Then I figured I'd Bic my head just for kicks and decided I liked it.
