An error has occurred!  You are not allowed to view the gallery!

And, I can see my blog, but I can't tell how to do anything with it - not that I would.

It appears as if both the TNSFW and the adsense are back. I had thought that TNSFW was removed to comply with the adsense TOS.  :?

That is correct. I got an email from an employee of Google stating that you cannot display Google AdSense on any pages containing adult/mature material. Which is exactly what I'm doing now. Not displaying the ads on pages containing adult/mature material.

I'll get around to changing the permissions so registered users no longer see ads after X amount of posts.

That's risky. Google prohibits displaying adsense on a site with adult/mature content any where on it, not just displaying on the individual pages with adult/mature content. I don’t know how much experience you have with adsense, but I’ve been used it for quite a while on several different sites and I know they have a very low tolerance for what they consider program violations.

It is very likely that they will ban your entire account if they decide you are in violation again. If you keep the ads off the TNSFW board and restrict access to it to authenticated users, you may not have any problems.

Frankly, I think you can do better than adsense. Forums are particularly hard to monetize, but this is a PR 5 with a large membership and a fair amount of traffic. You could try Adbrite. I know some people that have made a lot more with them than they did with adsense.

Of course, gotthegeek.com would be far easier to monetize. In fact, with a little bit of work and a really good push, you could probably make a fair amount of money off of that site.

Good points indeed Milifist. geekforum.org is an extension of gotthegeek.com and the marketing efforts should probably be made on gotthegeek. I think having a domain specifically for this forum was a good move in terms of bringing traffic in, but at the expense of the other domain. I say this because I suspect pretty much everyone here never bothers to check out gotthegeek.com once they get comfortable with the forum.

There's another domain?  :-o

What's got the geek?

Oh and Chris, have you noticed since you changed the themes around that the board is posting again?  It seems to be the second post on each page as before.

I unbanned the forum so it could post again. I needed to be in compliance with the policies of Google's AdSense, and in order to do so, I needed to take off ads for a few weeks until I could get things figured out. The guy that I had a correspondence with via email seemed to think I was in compliance, so he re-enabled ads to the site.

Next up in the queue in terms of ads is making a script to chose between two different ads styles based on the user's selected theme.

I haven't forgotten about all of you that submitted your ideas / suggestions; I just want to get the ads back up and running the way that they used to be before I move on to other thigns. In fact, the other night I was able to put the user's sex (or their selected sex) under their avatars, in the event that they fill out the form correctly.

Ugh... Gender != Sex

That's on of my pet peeves at work.  Almost every survey that I program lately asks "What is your gender?" and the possible answer choices are Male and Female.  If you're asking about gender, the answers would be masculine, femenin.  If you want to know what type of genitailia the person has, you need to ask "Sex", not "Gender".

Gender: Sexual identity, especially in relation to society or culture.

When I see sex on a form, I usually write "yes".

Yes, there are two domains. http://www.geekforum.org and http://www.gotthegeek.com

Okay, the gallery seems to be working for me, now.  Where's the link to post to one's blog, though?

Nope.  That allows me to view my blog.  There's no "Post" option anywhere, though.

Maybe its a theme thing. Try the light theme and tell me if you see it. It should says "Blog entries (0)" immediatly inder your avatar in a post. Then you can click on the blue zero to access the blog. Then againi, maybe I'm seeing this because I'm admin. Let me know if you still don't see it and I'll check the group permissions.
