I found this on heroes-forum and loved-it loved-it.  I think we need to do a geekforum version.

We could make something like this be required viewing before one can register.

On load, Flash could disable the "Register" button until someone clicks the "Yeah yeah yeah I get it!" button at the end of the flash movie.  Then, and only then, will the "Register" button be activated/enabled.

That's gold, I think it should TOTALLY be mandatory for people to watch that before posting.

It be great if after banning someone, every time that person tried to hit the reply button, they were redirected to that page.

Add a link to that in his C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup while you're at it.  They love that.  :-D

We've actually done that, except it wasn't a pc; it was a small boom box. The area we occupy is open with cubicles; both the tall ones (for supervisors, etc) and short ones- the waist high workspace dividers. On my shift (8pm - 6am) there's only two of us in the shop at any given time (three total- one rotates telecommuting each night)
AAAnnnyaway...  some guy on the day shift would leave his radio on playing softly, sitting on the top of his cubicle wall. Now, during the day, I'm sure it didn't bother anyone, but at night, however, if you're not aware someone left a radio on, and all you hear at 2:30am  is people somewhere in the building talking (which is supposed to be empty but for us) - it can be a bit unnerving.
So anyway, three times we simply turned it off. The fourth night he left it playing, my co-worker again simply turned it off; only this time he added the extra step of cranking the volume knob wide open.
We weren't there to enjoy the hiliarity, but his radio was gone the next night we came in to the shop. Haven't seen/heard any others being left on after hours, either. :D

I wish I had the know how to create something like that for the registration process here. I took a brief look at flash back in the day, but stopped once I realized I didn't have any time to devote to learning a new skill.

I've got about half a skillset in Flash. I can create symbols, but my finesse at animating is lacking. It's actually weird considering that I used to make frame by frame flipbooks as a kid that were pretty good as I recall...maybe next time I try to make a flash toon I'll animate each frame instead of trying the vector tween things.

Hey, if someone builds it, I'll record the naration.

For simplicity, this could be done quite easily withou having to worry about disabling/enabling the register button. All Chris would need to do is modify the board's PHP for every instance where the "register" button appears and change its link to point to the flash video instead of the registration form.

Then, the flash video plays and at the end two buttons appear. One that says "OK, now I get it" directing you to the actual geekery registration form. A second button that says "OMG STFU NOOBZ!11" that redirects you to zombo.com
