Totally against of transhumanism and especially prolonging anybody's life. Our planet is far too overpopulated. What we nee now- to go back to natural ways of existence, and try to clean up all the mess we created in the past 200 years. :|

I'm all for it ^-^ I don't see why there is such an uproar over G.M. foods, it allows farmers to make a healthier crop free from pests with vitamins and other components that can assist us in our diet. For example C.S.I.R.O Plant industries are working towards making wheat have more fiber, because most kiddies love white bread, but its rather bad for you. However wheat has 42 chromosomes so it is hard to find out which codon(s) exactly transcribe to the fiber content so there starting small with  barley which only has 14 chromosomes and other more simple grains so that they can isolate the gene more easily. (sorry if that was boring, I worked with some of their scientists on it the other year ^-^)

On the other end of the scale there is gene splicing, taking desired genetic data and inserting it onto a plasmid to make recombinant DNA and then making a fertilized egg take up the DNA to exhibit the trait. There was an interesting case of this were a scientist made a glowing pig! He got the gene marker from a jellyfish and successfully merged it into the pig, the pig has a distinct yellow tone rather then pink and when the lights go out... The pig clearly glows! His team are currently working on ways to turn the gene on and off in different situations! They have many uses for this discovery they can use it in transplant surgery in humans so that they can monitor the progress of the organ more easily, though that would not be practical until they can isolate organs or tissues, as having yellow people might be a little strange ^-^ ( this was published in a scientific journal ^-^ but I found a  video on it http://video.stumbleupon.com/#p=7jy8794yuw  if you would like to have a look)

*I thought I'd just edit this in rather then double post

Not that it has anything to do with transhumanism, but I'd say most people are against GM crops for various terminator-related reasons - we don't fully understand the forces we are meddling with, etc...

The other group are against it for the patent issue, which is really a separate issue if you ask me.

If you do, do it in a new thread.

Cherubim is plural; Genesis 3:24 specifies one flaming sword. Presumably flaming swords were in short supply."

Oh sorry I put it there because the first steps to altering the human genome is to start with the things around us as to not meddle with human lives until the process is perfected. the GM food idea came tome as wheat has a large number of bases as humans do to, so it is closer then you think ^-^ Sorry if it seemed irrelevant

Ok, so it is tangentially related...

Don't make me get mathematical on your ass, pb.  Cosine is a completely different function.

I hope you do.  According to the Bible, all you need to multiply is a log table and an adder.

"Multiply" as in mathematics or as in biology?

I don't know if he's been nominated for anything, but I think he should be denominated by a denominator. And rooted out summarily.
