I coulda swore there was a concert thread, but I couldn't find
« on: February 01, 2008, 02:07:25 PM »

Anyway, last night I went to see Dolorata.  Great show.  Their violinist is in the finals to accompany the Foo Fighters for their set on the Grammys.

Last show I saw was Social Distortion about 2 years ago, but I have tickets to see The Presidents of the United States of America in march.

social d's been on my to-see list for years, but the timing never seems to be right for me when they play around here.

Whoa... they got back together?

They have been back together for quite a few years now. They do a lot of local stuff around the Seattle area, but every now and then they pick up and do small tours. This tour they are doing now is to support their new album coming out in March http://www.presidentsrock.com/.

I don't think I'll be able to make the POTUSA gig on Tuesday, but I'm planning on going to the Triclops show at Annie's Social Club next Friday!

Saw The Presidents of the UNited States of America last night, and it was great. The crowd was into it, the band was into it, it was an awesome show all around. The opening acts left something to be desired, but im not really into the bands (Pleasursore and United States of Electronica).

PUSA is defiantly a band I'm gonna see again.

It slipped my mind for some reason that you were a fellow Pacific Northwester. I divide most of my time between Seattle and Portland. I happened to be in Portland for the Portland show, but not in fact Seattle for the Seattle show. Was it as good as the Portland Show, would you say? Or would you say that the Seattle Show was, all around, preferable to the Portland Show?

As I didn't see the Portland show, I can not say for certain if it was. But I would say the home town advantage was in effect.

I saw a PNW band called Lozen on Friday.  They opened for Triclops.  The Turks were the first band.  Great show.  For the encore, Triclops's drummer brought out about 8 cymbals on stands and put them out in the pit.  He then handed out drumsticks so we could play along.  Loads of fun.

Last night I went to see Halou at the Cafe DuNord in SF.

Well the first band sucked and played way too long--over an hour.  They didn't really know what genre they belonged to.  Sort of hippie phish-esque jam band, acoustic folk, Neil Young wannabes.  I wanted to slip in a Slayer CD to get them off the stage and their fans out of the venue.  Halou kicked total ass.  Rebecca is a stunning redhead and her voice is divine.  I'm in love

Video to song Everything is OK
Evensong live
Professional live
Milk Drunk live
Another live song

Do yourself a favour and give them a listen.  Sadly the videos don't do justice to their live show, but it should give you a slight idea of their inconceivable kick-ass-ness.
