O HAI I C U DAR
« on: January 12, 2010, 11:46:06 PM »

Hey, I'm Cheetahben. I'm 13, but I'm told I have the maturity to be 16.

I first discovered I was a geek when I had tried several sports, yet was miserable at them all. I decided that being geeky was my niche.

My über-nerd stats:
- I am also a member of a forum that discusses Chex Quest, a mod of the FPS game DooM. It also uses SMF, so I'm familiar with the format.
- I have been an avid gamer since I was born 9. My current favourite games are Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead, Age of Empires 3, and The Sims. I also play The Conduit occasionally. I play on PC and Wii. Anyone on here use Steam?
- I am a fan of shoujo anime (Furuba, Azumanga Daioh, Kare Kano). Yes, I'm a dude.
- I use Windows 7 partitioned with Linux Mint, with WINE of course. ;)
- I plan on building a rig in the near future.
- Machinima = hours of entertainment.

That's it for now. I'll post an avatar and siggy tomorrow, when I'm not posting with my DSi.

Why bother with Windows 7 when you have Linux Mint?

Also, which Linux Mint do you have?  I'm running 8 on my laptop, but 7 everywhere else.  I greatly prefer 7.  I don't like what they did with GDM in 8, among other things.

Actually, Chex Quest came in boxes of Chex cereal in the mid 90s. Since it's old and runs on ZDoom, it'll pretty much run on anything. I also mod Chex Quest pretty well.

The original CQ came in the boxes, but they've made two sequels since that are only available for download on the Chex Quest Fan Forums. My favourite is CQ2: Terror at Chex City.

There have also been countless fan re-creations...the latest one is the Lost Quest.

If anyone is interested in giving Chex Quest a whirl, I'll post links. They're short and relatively easy to other FPS games, but it's good for an old game.

Your sig image, while funny, is way too big. Would you mind either resizing it or perhaps removing it entirely? We have a dedicated thread to funny images around here somewhere. Feel free to post it in there.  :-D

You're going to build a rig?  Do you plan to assemble from parts and components manufactured by an OEM, or are you going to machine your own parts and fab your own components?

Howdy, Cheetahben.

I'm pretty much always on steam. It comes naturally with being a big fan of TF2 (and now Global Agenda), among other games easily delivered through the service. I hated steam back in the day when it was an ugly hack on to HL1 based games, but with the source engine and some serious polish work, I've been really impressed.

I've been known to appreciate some shoujo myself, but most of what I enjoy crosses the border to seinen (or mahou shoujo). It takes quite a man... or a thirteen-year-old to admit openly to being a shoujo fan.

I'm currently doing some voice acting for a feature-length machinima project. I'm not entirely convinced that it will ever completely come together, but at least I've mostly done my part.

Anyway, welcome!
