You can cook! I taught one of my friends to bake, and she used to burn tofu. If she can learn, then I KNOW you can learn more (not that you seem to need it, since you can obviously bake and assemble a cake)!

Um, one time I was baking a cake, and I was distracted by my mother who kept calling me on my cell. I accidentally left the oven mitt in the oven. Giant WOOPS! First time I had to use a fire extinguisher in my apartment. The cake, while covered in that extinguisher stuff, actually turned out well (I took the risk of cutting from the bottom to test it), if not slightly toxic.

When I mess up, I do it with a bang (and a large fire in the oven)!

No damage was done to anything, other than a thin/dusty layer of yellow crap all around.
