I've just seen Sunshine. Great visuals, good effects, acceptable acting.
Stupid, stupid plot and story.

I have a question that went unanswered for a long time, i'd appreciate if anyone can answer it (maybe it should go to "riddle me this" thread):

Why, when doing a multi-million budget film, the producer won't hire a real technical person as a consultant for a few hundred dollars? (i guess any of the films' IT staff that reads sci-fi would do in a hurry). I don't mean so the whole scenario should be re-written, but just a few scenes or sets.

Is it because nobody cares in the audience? But i do, and there are a lot of geeks that do too.
Or is it that logic and science really offend the movie-goer audience?

The movie Hackers had fucking Emmanuel Goldstein as a technical consultant and it was still a colossal trainwreck and lolfest.

Like apes, I throw my own feces at people who wander by my house, and occasionally band together with my friends and steal babies for susten-

Actually, never mind.

Aside from the laughable hax0r skillz which everyone expects (when was the last time a movie showed anything of that nature even remotely realistically?) the movie kicked ass. Sure some of it was over the top, but so is the entire Die Hard series. If it wasn't so hard, we'd call it just call it Die. I want to be Bruce Willis when I grow up.

"I have a very visual imagination. I see it, then I try to describe what is in my mind's eye," This minds eye concept is the heart of the new age movement. It is the ability to escape ones confines of this world and to explore the other dimensions of existence.

Dude...they totally don't want us to take this stuff and get into other dimensions man!

Yeah they do. And before you ask, every other ALOD was lying about the dimensions.

Whatever it is you don't have ANYTHING on this trick that Winona Ryder can do with ping pong balls.

No, actually. I've been meaning to, but never got around to actually doing it.

This summer I've been steadily working through a pile of 60s/70s movies that I've always wanted to see but never got around to.

I had no idea that dying flowers could smell so bad when they're in 95+ degree heat. Good gravy, it's like somebody died in here.

Haven't you seen Taxi Driver?

"Truly epic lolz!"

I'd really be interested in seeing how exactly they decided all this stuff was done by a single group. This reminds me a lot of the Kevin Mitnick saga actually, how pretty much everything he was known for was a load of mis attributed or simply impossible shit.

"Hacking" a myspace account is insanely simple, most people leave all the information you need on the page itself, and from there you just have to exploit the woefully flawed password retrieval system designed for use by idiots (see 2600 Autumn 2006 for more on this).

Actually no, this is more ridiculous than the Kevin stories, this is Sommy level.

Anybody remember Sommy? Back in the early nineties a family in Ontario was terrorized by some supposedly uberl33t hax0r man who would do such things as talk on the phone with them and flash the lights on and off. Various TV shows came in to try and find him, but it turned out after all of north america's media went ballistic that it was the family's bored teenaged son.
