Now let's not pigeonhole him so quickly, he could be an axe-hacker, or a katana-hacker.

Or a herring-hacker, but I think those are more common in British forests.

Finally, someone who can answer my question!

How do they make it so that when you type a letter on the keyboard, it goes all the way through the wire into the computer, and then out of the computer through a wire into my monitor and onto the screen? One time I looked at the inisdes of a computer, and all I saw was some shiny things. HOW DO THOSE SHINY THINGS KNOW WHAT I'M TYPING???

PFM?

It might as well be.

A long time ago, I took a circuit engineering course. Learned all about logic gates and such. Towards the end of the course, I had an epiphany or two about how one might be able to assemble a system of logic gates that... do stuff. Full of hubris, I even may have mentioned once or twice that now, finally, I can explain How Computers Work.

But it was only an illusion.

Forget about wires, i wanna know how it works with wireless! I suppose it could be magic, but i've never had to say any magic words to my PC, i'll admit i've said a few curse words to it but that's it.

Last night i was lying in bed thinking "It's pretty creepy how i can be downloading stuff right now with my laptop over a wireless connection, i mean nothings connected to my computer! How the heck does it get stuff onto it!" Then i think my brain hurt really bad so i went to sleep.

I can answer ivans question :-D

Ok. the layout of a QWERTY keyboard is the same as a layout on a typewriter.
Like the actual computer the Keyboard also contains a microprocessor which understands the position of the key in the key matrix. The processor also understand the rate of the bouncing keys. So when we type faster the keys come onto the board quicker. When the key is pressed the gaop in the circuit is bridges and a tiny amount of current can flow thorugh. The monitoring of key matrix is done by the processor. When a closed circuit is found the processor compares the location of key matrix to its ROM.

When pressing two keys together the processor checks to see if the combination has a designation in the charcter map.
Slight movement of the keys produces vibration and a small amount of current.

Information is transmitted from the keyboard to the computer as the OS types. When typing the processor analyses the key matrix and then determines what character is sent. The characters can be kept in buffer memory.

Traditionally, how many distinct cables were used to transfer data from a QWERTY keyboard to a PC and why that number specifically?

You're an idiot, and Shhhhh....knowing a fair amount about computers at 13 doesn't make you a genius - it means you have a decent grasp of logic and mathematics that would have been expected of any 10 year old in catholic school as recently as 50 years ago. -1, read some Dostoevsky, contemplate some Heidegger, do some long division in your head and create a unified field theory with just that and the radius of a banana, and learn your Plato... and maybe I'll recognize you as merely above average.

well the good old beige keyboards connected using the ps/2 cable. Thats all i know about keyboards.

8 cables were use to tranfer signals to the PC. This essentially represented an 8 bit communication, were each of the cable either generated electrical current or not. Based on the combination of simultanious currents received by the PC, the machine could convert this into a signle digit (up to 256) which corresponed to a text character (ASCII).
