IP version 6 solves this problem.

Just more stuff to scare the general unknowing population into thinking we're doomed.

Yeah, if you do an 'ipconfig' (or it's equivalent) you can see what the IPv6 addresses will look like. At least my laptop has a 'Link-Local IPv6 address'. I dunno if you do.

I think it's starting to come along. Many Cisco devices support IPv6 now adays if that is any indicator.
