Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / I'm not worthy
« on: February 24, 2005, 07:23:37 PM »
I d/led Mozilla, but I can't get any of the plugins such as adobe acro and javascript to work.  I've done just about everything suggested on the Mozilla tech support website regarding plugins to no avail.

But now, when I use IE, it will only open one window at a time.

So, I tried to repair IE so I can do online banking and things like that.  I tried sfc /scannow...I tried ie.inf install...I tried editing the registry to value 0 isinstalled and reinstalling (which cost me a couple of hours when my system couldn't find winlogon.exe after restart)...I've tried editing the IE registry for multiple windows...(net necessarily in that order) and not one of these things fixes it.

Can someone help me with this?  I'm running XP Home SP2 and IE 6.0.2900.2180 blah blah blah and Mozilla/5.0.

I am not worthy and abase myself in the presence of your mighty technical wisdom.

I don't know if any of you have seen this yet.  I just did and I had to wipe pepsi off my monitor.

Anarchy / My Dixie Wrecked

I saw this on another board, and I thought it might be fun.

THE QUOTE GAME

The Rules...

1.  When it's your turn, list a movie quote in this topic.  It's up to everyone to guess what movie the line was in.

2.  The first person to guess correctly leaves the next quote.  However, you may not post your quote until you've received confirmation from the person who posted the quote.

I'll start things off with...

"No, I'll shoot the cook.  My car's parked out back, anyway."

Anarchy / Oscars
« on: February 01, 2005, 08:08:30 AM »
I was flipping through my wife's copy of Entertainment Weekly and found the list of Oscar Nominees.  After reading through it, I realized that I'd only exposed myself to two of the movies on the list; The Village and I, Robot.  Both movies are now in therapy.

Hardware, Software, and Other Imperialist Crap / Linux with Latitude
« on: January 29, 2005, 01:32:58 AM »
I'm a Linux fetus waiting to be born.  I have an old Dell Latitude CPx that currently has Winblows 98 installed.   I'm tempted to just format the hard drive and install Redhat, but since I've never used Linux before (and only had a Unix shell account for about a month) I'm hesitant.  Another option I'm considering is getting Mandrake and putting it on a partition on the hard disk.  Decisions, decisions.  Any thoughts on this?

New Geeks on the Block / Question about geekhood
« on: January 28, 2005, 12:52:27 AM »
Hello,

I'm at a pivotal point in my training, and I need some advice.  If you had A+, Net+, MCSA, CCNA and Security+ and you had a choice of four paths to take from there would you...

A.  Complete the MCSE
B.  Complete the CCNP
C.  Pursue professional security certification
D.  Take a breather and watch Stargate SG-1

...and why?

I'm leaning towards the Security track, I'm still at the entry level and I'm unsure what to do.

Oh, yeah...I'm new here.  Looks like a good group.

Thanks,
Sardonicus
