Create my own font

I was wondering if anyone knows how to create their own font. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I obtained a copy of Macromedia Studio MX 2004, amongst other things I noticed a program called Fontographer. I installed it but haven't bothered to look at it yet, but a quick glance through the readme file and the name of the program suggest to me that this might do the job.
