Current geeky activity ?
« on: April 03, 2005, 08:32:33 AM »

So what is your current geek type activity? Mine is making a cardboard catapult kit (see attached pic [i hope!]) which my parents got me a while ago. I love these cut and stick kits - my wife got me a couple of simple ones I made at work last year when we were having lots of boring conference calls.
Anyway, that's my admission. Your turn . . .

Now if there was a manual on how to get attachments to work on a post . . . I wouldn't read it.

But any ideas as to why it doesn't love me would be appreciated.

Does being hopeless addicted to online gaming count?

Absolutely !!!

I've never risked online gaming. I'm always intimidated by that newbie feeling, that everyone else knows what they are doing and who everyone else is. Plus I don't get time for 15 mins guitar practice a day - so probably not a plan to go near another time-black-hole!

I'm not "owning up" to anything. That's like saying I'm embarassed to be a geek.

Besides, I already told you I code for a living. :P

I dunno. Ipod's are a bit trendy. I'm no expert, but it seems to me listening to a non-brand mp3 player you got off ebay for half the price your non-geeky teacher friend paid is a little more geeky (and that's not cause i'm jealous about not being able to afford an ipod - i'm not - really, no really)

iPods are geeky if you don't have pop crap music on them. :P

WoW has the strange ability to suck you in and after a month or two spit you back out. Gets old after a bit, but you keep comin back. Like moths to a bug zapper ... I have a Troll Shaman on Crushridge goes by Trelin.

I think it might be indicative of a greater problem, but I don't really play WoW all that much, even when I first got it. To give you an idea, a friend of mine got the game the day before me. He's level 32 at last count. I'm 13. I think the game is beautiful and well-designed, but I seem to get bored really easily.

I got a lot of flack from people when I told them Half-Life 2 wasn't really all that entertaining for me. I think I might be over video games almost completely.

There’s guidelines for being a geek?  Interesting . . . does playing paint ball, Xbox, the Sims2 University and such qualify?
