OLD Laptop, NT, Log-In Required, Any way around?

Hi, I'm new here, but I'm glad I found it. I claim to be a geek among my peers (and if all things are relative, it's true), but I'm sure you all will put me to shame quite easily.

My brother-in-law works for a multinational bank and they recently updated all their systems and computers, leaving a stack of old, outdated laptops in a closet for anyone to take home or point and laugh at in their spare time.

It's a Toshiba with Windows NT 4.0 SP-3. It has a log-in requirement, though. Does anyone know of a way for me to access any means of wiping the HD clean and installing a new OS?

Oh, and in the interest of drudging up your sympathies, it's only got 64 MB of RAM. How sad is that?! Anyhow, I'm sure it would cost at least a solid grand to upgrade it to even an entry-level laptop quality, so I'm really just looking for a way to use it as a big calculator/paperweight/desk ornament.

I would recommend taking the computer to the skillful, prompt, and proactive technicians at your nearest Best Buy store to be serviced.

Did you try reverse-degaussing the BIOS?  Or flashing the L2 cache firmware?  I'd start there, then try the aforementioned Best Buy solutions, and be sure to mention what you've already done.

I have no idea what you just said. But I'm not about to assume you were being sarcastic because I have no reason to believe anything you just said is anything less than real.
