This is a FWD that I recieved from a friend.

Again, he is interrupted before finishing his sentence. "I no be American, I be Turk!"

The Pakistani continues on his way and meets another passer-by. "Mr. American, me thank you for hospitality you give..."

"But my friend, don't you see that I am black? I am African, not American.

He goes a little farther and meets another American and greets him "Thank you for letting me come to your beautiful country."

"I'm not an American, I'm a Mexican. "

"But," answers the Pakistani distressed, "where are the Americans??"

The Mexican looks at his watch and says, "Probably at work."

Before I start tearing this apart, I thought I would let you guys get some first.

I may like cake but that doesn't mean I won't give everyone else a slice first...

That is in no way funny. It is completley offensive to the chinese, turk, mexican, and african-american races.

no one said that the people the man meets aren't at work - they're just more easily accessible in their work places. this joke obviously plays upon stereotypes which to me means chinese = tourist, turk = street vendor etc.

also, you cant be offended for someone because that's just patronising.

Just because someone isn't personaly offended dosn't mean that they can't be offended that someone would say that or something of that sort. Does it?

CRYSTALMONKEY could be of one of those races couldn't he? But I don't think he was offended by it (he did say a friend sent it). But he could be offended (he did say he was going to tear it up)

I personally think there is a place for gender/religion/race/etc humor in this world when it is done in the appropriate context, and with the intent of entertaining (not in promoting a message of hate). I mean, sometimes a joke is just a joke and it allows us to laught at ourselves or our society. Seinfeld, for example, did an excellent job at pointing out some irrational behaviors we exhibit. Sure, they often streched it past reality, but it was still based on social behaviors.

I was actualy beat for saying oriental in china town. imagrant overheard me and got pissed off. That's just me though.

Nowadays I just reffer to someone as 'guy' or 'girl' and point in said person's general direction. Random people are offended by random things but 'guy' seems to offend very few. God knows I wouldn't want another 'Chinaman Slap Attack'.

Basicaly it'd be full of whitmen reffering to everyone as something or other-american and black comedians making fun of them for doing so because it wouldn't be pc to punish any one but caucasains for being anything but pc.

Personally, I believe racism/prejudice is all subject to opinion. What one believes to be morally correct and 'normal', another may not; simply due to the fact that he or she were raised differently, or brought up in a different environment then the other. Some may find racial jokes offensive, others may not. It's all based on opinion. What we as a society believe to be morally 'correct' is one thing, what the individuals living in the society believe of their own accord is something else altogether.

I didn't find the joke chuckle-inducing, but I'm not about to pick it apart and chew out the creator either. If it was meant for a laugh, then I hope that some laugh. I know others won't, and that's just fine by me.
