Just wondering...
« on: September 25, 2002, 05:01:12 AM »

Whether you guys could check out my forum. Give me feedback on colours and stuff and mebye sign up...? I'm thinking of setting up a small package to send to webmasters asking if they would put links up on their pages. I could really do with a smallish logo and banner to put in there - hints to the pros at prgrams like paintshop and photoshop to give him a hand. I do have Photoshop7 but I can't do anything with it

Thanks and I'll hope you'll help my forum be as sucessfull as this one  :)

This forum is far from popular or sucessfull.

You'll also have to provide the URL to this forum you speak of since the link to the "Forum" on your site cannot be clicked on since you don't allow either right click, or left click.

Yeah sorry about that. I was kinda bored yesterday and was messing with a few scripts. The link should be acessable though the banner in my sig - or the little box with the red cross in the corner - if not click here

I was using this forum in context. You have 200 and summat members compared to my 11 - and most of mine are 1 off posters. I guess I will tie it in to my ICT website but it would just be nice to be an Admin of a site with regular posters.

Thanks

Seriously though,

What would everyone here like to see a forum on. Wheres the gap in the market which will attract everyone. What would you - yup you in front of your computer screen - need to see in a forum to make you want to sign up immediatly.

You should not have so many sub forums there, the more than you have, the harder it becomes to navigate, and the more intimidating it looks to other members that don't really know their way around forums too well. If you have less forums, and only a few that touch on the key points of what you want it to be about and then one for the rest of the stuff that doesn't fit those categories, the conversations that go on will most likely be a lot better.

Yea but the broad amount of subjects is because I don't know what to make it about. I had stated out with one show but it became apparent that it wasn't generating enough interest and I needed to branch out. I just need a topic which will attract people and is easy to focus on and popular enough for everyone to know. Once I've got this I can sort out the forum.

(Is there any point in focusing on one celeb or summat)

Perhaps thinking about what you like, and then making something that revolves around that so people who have similar views to you come.

THAT would be a good start. The idea of a site or any writting is to write what you like. True writters really don't write what they THINK will sell, but instead write what interests them, what amuses them, what scares them, or whatever is on their mind. If you do that, you'll enjoy it a lot more, and eventually people who have the same views as you will start hanging around the place.

Lets just say for the sake of this argument that I am totaly deviod of ideas and have no imagination whatso-ever - pretty close in real life. See I'm more of a follower in life as opposed to a doer. Think of it as market research or testing the water before I go diving in. I did make the forum orient around things I like but the few people that actually did visit said that the topic sucked. So I'm back to square one.

Whats a vB?

and YaBB because its the best free forum I could find. It can run a bit slow but its graphics are supreme - and the ease to add smilies (and other MODs) is what got me into making a forum in the first place.

Is the forum O.K now ?

This forum is run using phpBB. "vB" is VBulliten, it's a rather expensive forum with some good features.
