The sad truth about Kazza is that most downloads, even if you have cable, are grotesquely slow. This is probably because

1. Most Kazza users seem to have 56K or less
2. Most Kazza users are downloading 56535 files at once
Suprise suprise, this is why EVERYONE has 'low' under participation.

Yeah, if your lucky it is possible you can get a file transfer of maybe...oh 50 KPBS. But this is pretty rare..the strangest thing is that if (well, when) you find users on Kazza with ass high bandwidth ( 250) a lot of the time the downloads will just not work, or maybe just go really slow. Who knows. My adivce would just be to mass download on Kazza. If theres a song you want, try to download it with three users. Maybe one will work.

So you have a cable connection

Actually now that I think of it the ISP wouldn't have any problems with it as they couldn't tell that it was automatically connecting. Now all I need to do is find one  :(

(can you set something up in windows that does the same thing ?)

What Korn said is mainly the truth. Most users still are on 56k or less, and they will be download a billion files at once because they think that's the "best way to do it".

I remember back in the days of Napster, people would lie about their connection speed because they would think it would connect them to the server at an express rate so their downloads would complete faster. This, of course, would just confuse people because when someone came up with a "T1" line, they would really only have a 56k connection, and thus meaning the download would take much longer because of the slowness.

and people with t1's would set it as 56k or 28k so people wouldn't download from them, thats why i relied on pings

also, try going to tools-->internet options-->connections, i believe there is a 'connect automatically' feature somewhere

I couldn't find it when I had a look. All I could find was auto - deconnect and proxy connections. You couldn't eloborate a bit - A step by step guide would suit my level of techinical skills :)

Thanks

I did check that button and left it. But when I returned to the P.C later it was disconnected and there were no sign of an attempt to reconnect. I'll try again when I get home and watch carfully at the point of disconnection to see what happends.

Thanks and any other ideas?

Have anyone any idea how to make more than one download from Kazaa when you have many computers connected through a switch and a hub and then into broadband... Only the first Kazaa user who logged on have been able to even connect!

It could also be related to the fact that the same IP address cannot connect more than one time.

You know, given that how Kazaa works. We found this out after some of their servers crapped out and the service wouldn't work and the music industries started going after them instead of Napster.

There's a few ways to keep the money grabbing ISP's from cutting your connection when they think you're idle, one way is to run this website

KeepAlive

basically, what it does is simulate web use. Personally, I found it a hassle to have to open a webpage and go to the site (even when I bookmarked it) every time I left my pc.

Another method is

Stay Alive

which I personally, thought was great although it does cost $9 (if you pay for it   )

As far as connecting 2 users to KaZaA at the same time from the same IP goes, it can be done depending on what type of connection you have (as you can spoof the IP on one machine) but you'll have to be more specific...
