Wold of Warcraft
« on: October 02, 2007, 12:59:46 PM »

After months and months (i.e. over a year) of being offered free WoW keys, live demos, world maps, droll displays, and general begging by my friends, I've decided to toy with temptation and try out WoW. WOW! I can't beleive I'm actually going to abandon my principle of never paying for a game on a month to month basis. Then again, guildwars does get sucky after a while! lol

Now, I know Xolix plays. Or used too anyway. Anyone else currently playing? I plan to be on Tuesday nights starting at 6 or 7ish (EST). I'd love to play with some fellow geekery folks if that schedule is of interest to you. Starting a new character tonight in fact. PM me if you're interested.

Last New Year's Eve we rented a cabin for a week. It was wonderfull, on a lakeside where you could do ice fishing or skate, a few hills around where we could slide, woods where we would organize big paintball-style snowball fights and a kick-ass wine and cognac cellar where you could get wasted in style (there i spent most of my time), the whole classic New Year vacation.

One of us bought his laptop and spent more time on WoW than on anything else. And i knew him from before, he wasn't a total social failure, he was a normal guy. I'm afraid if i'll try it could hook me the same way, so i won't touch that game.

No WoW for me.  I just decided to reignite my EQ addiction a couple months ago.  So...I'm occupying my time with EQ2 now.  However, if anyone else is playing it, let me know.

Funny enough Judge, I literally just did the same thing.

I broke down after several years of refusing to play. I never disliked the game, on the contrary, it's a great one. I just don't like the idea of having to pay to play on a monthly basis.

I created a trial account and I'm enjoying messing around a lil'. Who knows? Maybe when my time's up I'll actually shell out some cash. I guess we'll see what happens, eh?

What do all of you play?

I've seen gaming addictions hit those in Xbox Live hard, let alone MMO's.  I'm staying away from the whole bag.

I don't really understand why anyone would sacrafice thier life and free time like that...

I'm addicted to Pirates on Facebook right now.  It must have something to do with His noodly appendage.

What do all of you play?

I'm playing an undead mage on the spinebreaker server. I played for about 3 hours and made it up to level 6. So far, it's very similar to guildwars, but that's probably because the noob missions suck. I expect that things will get more interesting at higher levels.

I mostly play on mal'ganis. My main is a 70 Troll Hunter with a 31 Undead Mage and 27 Undead priest. I have a few toons on other servers but usually stick to Mal'ganis. Let me know what server you guys are starting up on and I'll play ^_^. I've been wanting to try a pally out.

I have an Undead Warrior on Laughing Skull. I've only been playing for a few hours, just checking things out. I figure I may as well use up all of the time the trial account offers before I decide if I'm going to buy in.

It's quite similar to Guild Wars, yes, but it seems like there's plenty more to do. Everybody also seems to preach about the fact that you can jump. Wee.

And yes, it does get more interesting. I have several friends who are addicted, and all they seem to do is raid. From the looks of things, it's quite fun.

Those are two legitimate questions. Here are two not so legitimate answers:

Wold of Warcraft - I have a speech impediment you jackass! Some people play music by ear, I type by ear. And I'll tell you something else Mister! Typing with your ears is a lot harder than it sounds.

Xolix - A Character from the Asterix series?

Dammit, now I have to wait an hour to + you again.

Yeah, I still play WoW. I'm on Llane, 70 Human Priest, same name as I have here. I'm pretty much my guild's farmer. I get an objective and farm like hell until it's met. I'm also a huge reputation whore. I'm currently working on getting exalted with Timbermaw Hold.

Everyone ignored my previous question.  Are there any EQ2 players around here?

I play on spirestone, it's gotten pretty hardcore.

My toons are:
70 Gnome Mage - Spirestone - Hawtfiyah http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Spirestone&n=Hawtfiyah
41 Gnome Warrior - Spirestone - Parvink

Send me a PM if you wanna hook up ingame.

I am more obsessed about the world economy (i.e. figuring out ways to make gold with little effort) and with getting all my profession skills up the roof that questing. lol, I can't even wear the tailoring stuff I can make because my level is too low.

I used to play EQ and EQ2, but I haven't recently. (I might get back into EQ2 again, not sure if I want to, though... seems like it would be fun to try it out again)

Plenty of people still play EQ, though, and I'm actually very happy about that.

I've played the trial. Was ok, I had fun playing an undead and a human priestess hot chick, but didnt get attached (should I say; gratefully?).
I'm totally into Civilization 4, though. Play it nearly every day for at least 2 hours.
