Work... what is a lot?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,379301,00.html

ok, I dont want to sound unsympathetic; but 80 hours of overtime a MONTH is not that bad. I've worked far more than that. I've worked construction as an electrician on jobs going seven 12-hour days; the longest for five months at that schedule. Yeah. Count up THAT overtime.

In the two months up to his death, the man averaged more than 80 hours of overtime per month, according to Mizuno.

Shewt, several months out of the year where Im working now we "have the opportunity" to cover the other night shift; meaning I work my 4- ten hour days, then work 3- TWELVE hour days; then my 4 10s, then the 3/12s .....
for at LEAST two months- each time.

I'm gonna say this guy died of something else (like HEART DISEASE  )
80 hours OT a month two measly times just aint gonna kill you.

I was just thinking about this last night, ironically.

My typical work week is about 55 to 60 hours, and to top that off, I attend college full time as well.

I'm what they call "living the American dream". I'll admit that if I was ever able to generate a reliable stream of income from my online ventures, I'd quit my brick and mortar job and work on this full time instead.

I work 40 hrs.  No more.  No less.

There was one point, however, when I managed a convenience store and I worked 16 hour days from Father's Day to Labor Day with no days off.  If anyone was going to die as a result of that, it was our district manager who refused to hire anyone to work my second shift.

When I got a new job during Labor Day Weekend, I quit without notice.

I work between 40 and 50 hours a week, typically.  If I'm on-call, that number goes to about 60 pretty much by default.

I work anywhere from about 35 to 45 hours a week depending on workload.  OR should I say, I'm at work that amount of time.  During some lulls I get a lot of surfing in.  Usually I'm here about 38 hours a week.  When I was a restaurant manager typical weeks were 60 hours (exempt so no overtime) and during short staffed times (i.e. when I was in Chico) that went up to 85-110 hours a week.  I'm so glad I escaped.

I'm at work at least 45-50 hours a week. However, the amount of time in which I'm actually WORKING is another matter.

I work pretty much all of the time that I'm at work.  And that's waaaaay longer than anyone else.  I don't know why it takes me so long to get my shit done.

Summer school ends at 1:30 and the other teachers are out the door by 1:32.  I'm there till 3.

Heh. I work less than 40 hours most weeks, but a few weeks a year I work 18-20 hours a day, so that makes up for it.
And I don't get overtime.

Work? What is the work thing you describe?

I don't think you can count the millitary as a regular job, as there is no over time, and screwy hours are the norm, but there are long hard days there. I must say, I do not miss those days, and I am glad I'm a student now, living on the GI Bill.

Define work.

My 'regular' job never goes over 40 hours a week, because I'm on salary and it's not worth it for me to work an extra shift fuckers are never going to pay me for.

My 'second' job can extend that time to 80 hours a week depneding on how busy the school is, so I'll clock in a nice pay check during the fall and spring.

Then there's all that other stuff I do to pay my mother for getting me to 18yrs alive. I count that as work, but it's more like community service.

I work 40 hours a week.  Sometimes they will have overtime available and I will work it if I have the time.

Four hours a day for five days a week.  8-)

To be honest, that's all I can handle taking about 14 hours a semester along with other collegiate responsibilities such as sigep.

Also, I'm lazy and it's the summer! I have worked more, though. At my old job I was regularly getting past 40 a week along with my senior year of high school business such as skipping class and sending in college applications. You would think if someone was about to die from work there might be some other signs such as vomiting, insanity, or anxiety attacks.

Wimp.

I worked 50 hours per week while raising 2 kids while I went to school.  I took 15/16 hours each semester, too.
