Study: Alcohol is the most lethal drug

Researchers analyzed how addictive a drug is and how it harms the human body, in addition to other criteria like environmental damage caused by the drug, its role in breaking up families and its economic costs, such as health care, social services, and prison.

When drunk in excess, alcohol damages nearly all organ systems. It is also connected to higher death rates and is involved in a greater percentage of crime than most other drugs, including heroin.

:-D  I have no such intention.

Posting this was just a frustrated, Legal Hypocrisy - weary,  pro marijuana legalization pothead whining about how things are 'unfair', lol.

Carry on, by all means!

I read that earlier this morning. I think it's also the only legal drug in the study, too.

I can see where they are coming from since its usage is probably more widespread than any other drug they studied. However, I think the "harder" drugs tend to have quicker effects than alcohol does in terms of someone's overall well-being. By this I mean they may turn to crime in order to get their next fix, or they may take too much of it at once and die from an overdose.

I think the record around here is three DUI-related accidents within one day in one small town since I've been living out here in PA. So yea, you can say there's a bit of a drinking problem around here.
