Okay...this is simple. And I'm bored. You name a quote from a movie, and the next person to post must correctly identify the movie the quote is from. Then they post a quote of their own, and so on...
I'll start with an easy one: "There's no crying in baseball!"
-
A League of their own
My turn.
Automobile?
-
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
"Known as Bo, also known as Bo, answers twice to the name Bobo"
-
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
"Known as Bo, also known as Bo, answers twice to the name Bobo"
Nope... Sixteen Candles was the quote I was using. But, whatever. I win.
-
"Billy, he wasn't a loved man. He didn't have much personality and what he did have was all bad."
-
High Plains Drifter
"If you kill a whale, you get Greenpeace and Jacques Cousteau on your back, but wipe out sardines and you get a canning subsidy!"
-
C'est arrivé près de chez vous
"Didn't I kill you already?"
-
Hellboy?
"My father's going to be very upset when he hears about this! And when my father gets upset, the ground SHAKES! "
-
Xanadu.
"Smile, it enhances your face value."
-
Steel Magnolias
"And if your hands were metal that would mean something."
-
Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie?
"They're taking the hobbits to isenguard!"
PS. my quote was actually from 12 Monkeys, I'm not sure how you got Xanadu out of it.
-
Xanadu again.
"Liechtenstein? Oh my God!"
-
Baby Geniuses
"I am gonna rip out your eyes and piss in your dead skull"

Why, 'Army Of Darkness', of course! :-P
"The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success."

Elliot Carver - Tomorrow Never Dies...
"End of Line!"

LOL Tron.
"You can't do this to me, I'm an AMERICAN!"
-
Raiders of the Lost Ark
"Sorry, we only carry sizes 1, 3, and 5. You could try Sears."
-
Some saleslady from 'Mean Girls'.
"No matter how bad things look, they look better awake then they do asleep."
-
The Jacket.
"Corporate Counsels Payroll, Nina speaking. Just a moment."
-
Office Space
"Young love! How... stirring. If everything goes unfortunately today, you two may even make the front page!"
-
Stupid Sexy Flanders and the Goblet of Fire
"You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought."
-
Star Wars: A New Hope.... ohhhh, Leia. That hair...*shakes head*
"You stay right there, I'll go. There's a stench of adultery in here."
-
Xanadu. Christ, can't you pick a different movie every once in a while?
Baby Geniuses
"I am gonna rip out your eyes and piss in your dead skull"
Wrong. Baby Geniuses TWO. :-P If anyone but Jeee had guessed that one, I would call OMFGGOOGLECHEATZ11!!!ONE!1!, but it very well could be one of Jeee's favourite films. :-D
"Sir Ludo, canst thou summon up the very rocks?"
-
Xanadu. Christ, can't you pick a different movie every once in a while?
It *was* different. Never seen "Intermission"? http://www.thefilmfactory.co.uk/intermission Kinda violent, but not Tarantino-violent. Colm Meaney is great in it, especially after seeing him as O'Brien for so many years.
-
It was in Xanadu. Probably this other film of your's was simply making a montage. Xanadu.
"Housework is like bad sex. Every time I do it I swear I will never do it again. Until the next time company comes."
-
'Can't Stop The Music'.
"You know the guy who can pick up any girl? I'm him. On crack."
-
'Can't Stop The Music'.
"You know the guy who can pick up any girl? I'm him. On crack."
Thank you for smoking.
"If you woke up at a different time, in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?"

Sin City
"I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you won't feel bad."
-
Xanadu.
If anyone gets this one, I'ma know they're googling. Damned googler cheaters...
"Hey, great pipes, huh? I've heard cats fuck with more harmony."
-
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. No googling required.
Hey Lucifersam, if you're going to play, please play. Don't continue to reply "xanadu" for everything. It's annoying and it's ruining the game.
"Remember, remember, the fifth of November,
the gunpowder treason and plot.
I know of no reason why the gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot."
-
V pro Vendolius... proxy Xanadu.
+1 for liking ford fairlane, -1 for not liking Xanadu. The joke may be rusty, annoying, and urksome to the entire world, but I'll always chuckle. And really, it is NOT my fault that Xanadu created so many quotable lines, or that everyone stole said lines for their hollywood exploitative tripe.
"Nah, nah, nah. Bandstands went out with running boards. Over there. A great rock 'n' roll band. This is the 80's!"
-
Xanadu.
>< none of the quotes you've claimed are from Xanadu ARE ACTUALLY FROM XANADU. Except the one you just posted. It's not that I don't like Xanadu; it's that the point of the game is to CORRECTLY guess the movie; and you aren't supposed to answer unless you know.
"Tonight, you and me are going off that fucker's head, and take out his fucking soul! Remind me if he tries to buy something from us, to cut it with leafs and twigs...or fucking shit in the motherfucker's bag!"
-
Sin City
"I love hitmen. No matter what you do to them, you won't feel bad."
Nuh uh, it was Fight Club.
-
'Clerks'?
"If I were to send you flowers where would I...no, let me rephrase that. If I were to let you suck my tongue, would you be grateful?"
-
Erm...Face Off?
"A: How tall are you private?
B: Sir, 5 foot 9, sir!
A: 5 foot 9, I didn't know they stacked shit that high!"
-
Full Metal Jacket, of course.
" I don't want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don't want to do that."
-
Say Anything. +1 for a GREAT movie.
"There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours."
-
The Princess Bride
"We bury our sins here, Dave. We wash them clean."
-
'Mystic River'.
"I am required to kill so I kill, that is enough."
-
The Gladiator.
"I don't understand - how can you base your lack of belief in God on the

Nuh uh, it was Fight Club.

-1 for questioning my post.
-
I humbly beg your forgiveness, sire.
Incidentally, is it because I\'m using a crappy proxy or is that link supposed to link to the main forum page?
-
Ok then, how about continuing the game?
"I don't understand - how can you base your lack of belief in God on the

Is it Contact?

Funeral in Berlin. That movie sucked.

That movie sucked.
Blasphemer!
-
Funeral in Berlin. That movie sucked.
"Have a nice storm in the castle!"
Do you mean "Good luck storming the castle!" ?
-
Do you mean "Good luck storming the castle!" ?
No, I meant "Have fun storming the castle."
I may have been wrong, but so were you
-
No, I meant "Have fun storming the castle."
I may have been wrong, but so were you
It's still Princess Bride :P
How about:
"They're taking me with them, with the Phoenix...going to circle the universe forever."
-
'Dark Star'.
"Welcome to Thunderdome, bitch."
-
Waiting.
"Maybe they weren't all Runners. Maybe most of them reached Life Renewal on Carousel."
-
Ooooh, Logan's Run. That's how my brother got his name, oddly enough.
"I MAKE friends. They're toys. My friends are toys, I make them. It's a hobby. I'm a genetic designer."

+1 Xanadu
That's from Blade Runner.
"Mum! Dad! Don't touch it! It's Evil!"

Time Bandits
"'Twas a long time ago, longer now than it seems,

The Nightmare Before Christmas.
"Aw, what the hell. Guys like me shouldn't dream anyway."

'Xanadu'.
"You have to realize that someday you will die. Until you know that, you are useless."
-
Fight Club.
"They sure don't make rocks like they used to!"

edit: Xanadu
"Listen, we're not brothers; we're not partners and we're not friends and if Ganz gets away with my money you're going to be sorry you ever met me."
-
Xanadu.
"Let's go to a phone booth or something, huh? ...where I will unveil a fifth of whiskey, I have hidden here under my loose, flowing sports shirt."
-
From Here to Eternity.
"I've been known to twinkle a toe or two."
-
Xana.. hai wait a minute. :x Also, you are way to young to have seen from here to eternity. Also, you are from new jersey. :|
Duke Santos!!!1???!!?!!ONE!!1!?

Erm...it was Xanadu.
-
Exactly. Now what's mine?
-
Ocean's Eleven?
Firstly; I am a film buff/connoissuer. Why else would I start a thread like this? I happen to own a copy of "From Here to Eternity." Do not doubt me.
What does New Jersey have anything to do with anything?
-
edit: Xanadu
"Listen, we're not brothers; we're not partners and we're not friends and if Ganz gets away with my money you're going to be sorry you ever met me."
What?
-
What does New Jersey have anything to do with anything?
I ask myself that question every time I drive through it leaving Manhattan for one reason or another. And it's funny, because it's sort of like the opposite of long island: I don't know what long island has to do with anything, but somehow I'm glad it's there. Newark, on the other hand...
Anyway, easy one.
"Do all the interns get Glocks?"
"No, they all share one."
-
I know I'm going to spell this wrong...The Life Aquatic with Mr. Zissou.
"It's good to be the king."
-
Xanadu.
"If you fail, we will be forced to help you destroy yourselves."

48 Hours. I HATED that movie.
"A:Werewolf?!?!?
B:THERE, WOLF!!!"
-
48 Hours. I HATED that movie.
+1 for admitting that
-
Xanadu.
Cam you keep a secret? I'm trying to organize a prison break. We have to first get out of this bar, then the hotel, then the city, and then the country. Are you in or you out?
RE: 48 hours, I wouldn't even admit to seeing that movie. Christ, eddie murphy...
-
Xanadu.

Wayne's World.
Hello. I'm Jill, the babysitter.
No, it fucking wasn't Waynes World. Go away.
-
Yay! Poo
-
Wayne's World :-D
I'll accept that answer. I also would have accepted "Lost in Translation (brilliant movie)", or "Xanadu".
"Benjamin is nobody's friend. If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he'd be pralines and dick."
-
Wayne's World or Xanadu
"Please, I gots to know"
-
Xanadu or maybe Police Academy 4?
"I've been having this nightmare. A real swinger of a nightmare, too!"
-
Wrong, it was Dirty Harry.
-
:x No, it was from Xanadu, in the following part of the script:
Batman (played by Brad Pitt): George, if there is anything you can tell me about this crime, you had better speak up. Fast.
George Carlin (played by Cher): Alright. Alright, ease up... it's about Michael here... I...
Batman: Out with it!
Michael Jackson (played by Don Knotts): Please, I gots to know!
George Carlin: Michael, you're... adopted. Your parents were not really black.
*Michael Jackson wears an expression of shock*
Gary Coleman (as himself) enter screen left-front and begins to breakdance
end of scene
-
I stand corrected.
-
Yours was Xanadu.
How about this one
"Boy oh boy"
-
So easy. Straight-to-Video release of "Xanadu part 7", starring Frank Sinatra and Liam Neeson as two hard boiled private detectives thrown in to the seedy underworld of "Outlaw Disco", where they both fall in love with a stunning transexual dance-android named Nonni (played by a rather young Jack Nicholson) and decide that there is only enough room in hi/r heart for one of them. 3 Hours, 43 Minutes, Paramount Pictures (1988)
"Sufferin' sassafras! My rudder's on fire! Bail out! Bail out!"

Best. Post. EVER.
Seriously, Luci. If I could give you some kind of award for that, I would. In a heartbeat. That just made my fucking day.
-
It's a little known fact that the scene actually took 15 takes to get on print, because Don Knotts kept saying "I gots to know Andy". They beat him several times, but he just couldn't kick the habit, so they eventually just edited out that word on the sound reel, which is why the dubbing is slightly off for that portion of the film.
-
I know this topic is dead, and I assure you that I shed more tears over it than I did over Anna Nicole Smith...but here's my desperate attempt to revive.
Geekforum, you are my sanctuary! You're the only place I know I'll never hear the phrase: "How old are you, twelve?" directed at me. So please, help me revive the thread that was my favoritest thread of all!
Quote: "What are midichlorians?"

Quote: "What are midichlorians?"
Please. That one's easy. "Xanadu".
FYI, it's not thread necromancy if you're contributing some meaningful content to an otherwise "dead" thread.

"A: I vote we run like hell.

Xanadu.
And your are wrong, that quote was from the super indie film John B. Player and Son do Dallas. The line was inserted later into Xanadu, when the voice over actors went on strike because the script was too good to be screened in it's pristine and original state.
