I'm running a Toshiba Satellite 3000.

Not a bad Laptop, PIII 1 gig, 512MB RAM, 15 inch TFT, 32MB Geforce2 GO, DVD-Rom, 18 gig drive.

Its a pretty old one now, bought it in 2002, for about 2 1/2 grand and that was in australia, so its probably dirt cheap there.

I use this laptop for everything and its handled the abuse well, the geforce 2 holds its own on a lot of games (Mafia, AvP2, Max Payne, Black and white etc.) Though it overheats real damn fast.

Good thing I use a GPS now, unless the satellites get all screwwy too. Then I'll be as lost as Demo

Why doesnt this surprise me. Hopefully Zonealarm, TC monitor ( a registry monitor), aswell as two ad searching programs and a daily virus scanner will keep me safe.

Always remember freaking out when ZoneAlarm showed me how many non internet applications request access.

I had it on, but took it off a little while. Am still getting used to it, constantly changing things to try and get it to look good.

AVG or PC-Cillin. I dont touch norton or Mcafee because they have always been memory/cpu hogs.

Have to go with Sneakers, wargames, anti-trust, swordfish (damn i want that multi screen system, and then hackers. Hackers was good, old school tactics, in the days of when you know how to run commands you were a god. But the GUI crap ruined it. Since when does a worm swim around in the air in some funky light effects?

Sounds like it is overheating, especially if it is a small case with one fan. Most PC's have an overheat shutdown built in so that the CPU doesnt get cooked.

Try airing it, or when it shuts down, feel the sides of the case to see how hot it is. If I use my laptop for a long time on a graphic intesive game, the laptop heats the table it is on and i can feel it THROUGH the table.

I have wireless on my laptop and I took into a place I was doing some work experience with. Well hello, a corporate network with Cable connection all unsecured. Was good to do a few downloads on company bandwidth. But apart from that, especially corporations, can be really screwed if they dont secure their networks.
Though leave the net access free for starving people like me stuck on dial up :)
