the question is IF you HAD to choose between the two which would you rather have. i am also against both of these, but the question still stands.

Political Opinions / US Draft

if it was a war between north korea and america alone there is no way north korea could take us on. sure theyre a militaristic country, but their air force and navy simply can not compete. and there is no way for them to really attack us, so they will go for our allies instead. so if nk and america were fighting alone, do you honestly believe that nk could win? there is no chance. dont be naive and try to challenge something thats a near fact.

lacerda: i see. well with great power comes great responsibility, and the united states is a world power, and even though nobody may like it, i think we do have some sort of a duty to try and keep order in the world.. even though i do agree with you that self interste plays a huge role in our involvement, you cant blame the us govt.. its not like any other govt wouldnt do what we're doing if they were a super power.. hell history has porven other countries to be a lot worse.. look at great britain in the early 1900's they were a colonial super power... they were terrible.
and democracy only penalizes those who are more successful, republicans make it fair for everyone.

banshee: more liberty equals less security and vice versa. if you want to insure domestic tranquility than you have to give up some liberties.

happiness is a republican majority.

and i think someone said they detest the party system.. well would you rather have an absolute monarch instead? oooo oooo how about anarchy?

i think youre being cynical and trying too hard to be heard or seen as different.. you want to be noticed here because im assuming you arent in real life... yea youre different. woo hooo. so vote republican.

as for war with iraq i am surposongly AGAINST it, not because i care about irq but because our reasons for wanting to fight them are bad. if you want me to explain i will, but its a pretty long explanation.

errr sorry, i dont see an edit button so let me correct my mistake.

north korea can attack south korea and japan with conventional weapons

and the west coast of the united states with ICBM's (inter continental ballistic missiles) they have the range of i think 6200 miles.

i dont think a draft is necesary for a war with iraq. but if we go for north korea i think its a definite possibility. if we win this war with iraq then we will need people to occupy the country, just like afghanistan, sure it was a quick victory but we're going to be occupying the country for years.. so we'd be spreading ourselves pretty thin even after victory, and i think a lot of people are under the false impression that we have a very large army. this is not true, we dont have a very big army. if we do go to war with north korea then its pretty much going to be ww3. not because north korea can take us on, but because im guessintg china will get involved. sure we could take north korea easily, but do you think china would want to share a border with a united states occupied country? definitely not, and north korea said they are ready to strike american military targets all over the world, and they certainly have the capability. even with conventional artillery north korea can attak targets in south korea and japan, not to mention the west coast of the united states. so since they wont be able to hit us hard, they threatened to attack south korea and japan. so south korea, japan, north korea, united states, and china, sounds like a world war to me. im telling you north korea should be left untouched for the time being. its not a very good idea and tony blair is a douchebag.

yea i know im new here..

i just cant help but notice the general anti american govt vibe this forum is giving off, and i dont really understand why. maybe someone would like to fill me in?

i think you guys are focusing on everything you think america is doing wrong and not even stopping to think or appreciate what this government does for you. i havent read all the threads yet so maybe im jumping the gun here when i say this but im guessing the bulk of you here are left wing?  BAH cant stand liberals.

remember everybody. happiness is a republican majority. yes.
