Next year I'll be in a 300 level class on the French Revolution.  Only about 4 other people have signed up so far.  I love small classes.

52
Good, that's done.  Now I just need 4.5 pages of Augustine vs. Aquinas on the subject of war.

Aquinas has somewhat narrow views about whether a war is justified or not and Augustine is fairly wide open.  This shouldn't take too long.  I'll start around 2 AM.  My first exam is tomorrow at 3:30, so I can sleep it off.

53
The paper was due on Friday.  I lose 1/3 a letter grade a day.  I've got about 8 pages, but one section is holding me up.  Since there are no classes, he's allowing us to submit our papers through email as a means of checking them in.  Then we bring a printed copy to him later.  He also claims not to allow revision between emailing and turning in the hard copy.  I figure, I'll just submit a corrupted but mostly complete version and he'll never know that the section I've yet to write is not there.

Sorry, but my ass is on the fucking line.  I've still got another five pager to write tonight.  My professors stacked the final 3 weeks with all the real work.  With my final grades for the classes slipping fast, I'm out of options.

54
No, I just need it to not work if someone were to open it.  I don't need it to ever work again.

55
I need to corrupt a word document of mine before I email it.  Is there and easy way to do it?

Washers take 26 minutes.  Dryers take 1 hour.  There are 3 washers and 3 dryers.  Naturally, you can wash more than you can dry.

When the dryers are full, all you have to do is put your wet clothes in a basket and wait for one to open.  WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU LEAVE THEM IN THE FUCKING MACHINE AND WASTE MY GOD DAMN TIME?

My RA and a guy down the hall refuse to take their shit out of the machines because their "clothes are wet."  NO SHIT!  Did you think the washer dries your clothes as well?  It's not like taking wet clothes out hurts them.

I've come to the conclusion that they must be doing it so I can't move in and get a dryer before them.  If I weren't nicer, I'd toss some fucking crayons into the dryers with their clothes.  Fucking morons.

Cool, a troll.  I figured, robotics aren't big in the U.P.  I'm at school in Adrian right now.

West Michigan Regional

I take it then that you are from Michigan.  Where abouts?

All I had on there were music and movies.  Most was backed up on DVDs before I got the drive.  I'll lose a couple movies and maybe 25-30 albums...oh, and every episode of Sealab 2021.  But I can recover that at least.  The other stuff will just have to be redownloaded.

I'll start working out how to get the drive fixed/replaced with the warranty tomorrow.

Thanks for the help everyone.

60
Got one from heaven (upstairs, where all the girls are) and it didn't work.  I'm fresh out of ideas.

61
It's definitely still under warranty.  I think I might have to try that.  The possibility of a faulty cable also occurred to me.  I'm not sure where I could find a working one to test it though.  A/B cables aren't that common as far as I can tell.

62
I booted into Knoppix but it didn't notice the external either.

I don't know what to do, I can hardly format the drive and start over because the computer doesn't recognize it in the first place.

63
It's an OS, not a program, but you'll see. Good luck! :-D

That smiley makes me nervous.  HTML2K.bat anyone?  Will installing Knoppix cause me to lose windows?  I hardly want to do something that may be irreversible.

Let me see if I've got this.  I download Knoppix, put it on a thumb drive, boot to it on start up, and see if it recognizes the partition on my external?

Edit: This for instance?

Will it allow me to recover the data from the drive if I need to reformat, or will it allow me to repair the drive?

Another question, what may have caused this?  I didn't drop the drive.  I've been very gentle with it, I don't think the write heads jarred the disks or anything.  I also did the whole "remove hardware safely" thing before I disconnected it before my trip.

66
It's not working on my regular computer either.  I can't back up the data on it either.  I've got most of it on dvds, but I'd still lose 15 gigs or so in a reformat.

Okay, as far as Knoppix goes, what do I need to do.  How will an OS help me?

We're making my friend drink water.  I'm sobering up quite well.  Anyway, I don't want to derail my own thread.  Back on the subject.  I'm not in much of a condition to try that program Cat.  Maybe tomorrow if I can use my girlfriend laptop.

I'm only sort of drunk.  My friend is puking right now.  Oh well.  I went to Walmart.  Me and this girl, or... THIS GIRL AND I, went to Walmart when we realized the adult bookstore was closed.  It's sad.  Oh well.  Hehe, we couldn't watch the movies on my harddrive that I wanted to anyway.  I would still like to know what is up though.  I love Detta and Cat.  Oh and Timberwolf.

I'm too drunk to figure much out right now.  Sorry, I'll try again later.  I don't have internet at my house right now.  Not that I'm at my house.   I'm at a friends apartmantment right now.  I'll staighten this out later.  Sorry.

New problem.  I can't get the drive to be recongnized by anyone else's computer.  I've tried 4 different machines.  All give me a message saying that either the drive has malfunctioned or windows doesn't recognize it.  I really need to be able to hook this up to other computers.  Anyone know why this is happening?
