Flamer's Corner / Re: The 'Let's Bitch About Our Jobs' thread.
« on: October 13, 2011, 02:50:24 PM »
Alright. To make a long, boring story short, my project at work has a Wiki-based table online which gets updated by everyone in the project. Project members update the table with various information.

There is one particular field in the table which is for my use only and which clearly states this. Throughout the course of the project, I have probably sent 4-5 emails regarding this as well as mentioned it numerous times in our meetings. However, project members continue to modify the field.

I wrote this email today about not modifying the field:
"
. . .

Just don't do it. Just say no. This field is not your friend. Mutant Kansas groundhogs will burrow themselves into the foundations of your home and murmur suggestive groundhog messages into your ear while you sleep. You will spend thousands of dollars on therapy trying to understand why you have a sudden craving for grass and insects. The therapist will have you committed to an asylum where you will be surrounded by your former coworkers who whisper things like "groundhog day approaches". You will slowly lose your mind after realizing you've hibernated through the entire winter. And right before your mind is about to break, I will send you a letter which reads simply . . .

"You shouldn't have modified the 'Submitted' field."

. . .
"

Think they'll get it?
(I contemplated putting this is Writer's Corner, BTW).

Three questions:

1) What's with the random links in your signature?
b) Did you notice you were replying to an intro thread from January?
three) I don't always use numbered lists?

Do you go to WSU? If so, so do I. What kind of gaming do you do?

Oh, yeah. Welcome.

I blinked at him; a  cat sign meaning "Yay!" or "awesome!" or "Its all good" or just a general, positive acknowledgement of his presence. He responded by trotting out from behind the cabinet with his tail straight up and hopping up onto my lap.

I think I'm mostly impressed with the actual communication that preceded the mind reading.

Political Opinions / Re: Suspected domestic abusers go free in Topeka
« on: October 09, 2011, 01:44:49 AM »
Fuck Kansas. And by that I mean mostly fuck Kansas's judicial system. (Nope. Just, Fuck Kansas).

In all seriousness, the way this place is run I wouldn't be surprised if the county calls the city's bluff and doesn't prosecute anyone for misdemeanor domestic battery and people just go free. Kind of like what's happening right now!

"He added that the most severe cases of domestic battery would be written up as felonies, which are still prosecuted by the county."
. . .
"They need to invest in headstones, because these women are going to end up in cemeteries," Dombrowski told the station. She said she was hit with a crowbar in a domestic violence incident classified as a misdemeanor 16 years ago."

Run away from this place.

Try to buy tickets for Midwest Beerfest. (Fuck yeah!)

Off-site ticket website. (Well, I guess so.)

Finally arrive at the "buy" button. (Finally, geez.)

Please create an account. (Fuck you!)

Please check your email. (DIAF.)

Please change your randomly generated password. (If I could kill anyone in the world, it would be you.)

Thanks! Now returning you to the main page. Oh, you were doing something? Problem?

Use the justify buttons;  seems to supersede the filters.

Hm, thought I did do that but it just put the tags in for me. Anyway, Juggstown turned that one off for me. :)

Does a Google search for "couch forts" bring people here? Banshee posted a link in which a new person mentioned he/she "have built all couch forts I have owned".

And now this?
have recently started learning how to fix couch forts (using my old laptop as an experiment).

What's going on? What the hell does 'have built all couch forts I have owned" even mean? :?

I don't like change!

I'm not sure what gave me the idea that XBox support would be better since you pay for it. But in any case, seems like I'm wrong.

Oh, and sorry, no idea. My first thought would be to try and correct the RRoD. I know there are steps online for correcting it if you have a few hours to kill. But it sounds like you already purchased a new one, so that's probably out of the question at this point.
