Let's try a simple recipe thread. The thread will be simple, as will the recipes within.
I'm going to ask that we stay on topic here. Off-topic posts are subject to being moved or deleted. I just don't want to have to sort through 5 pages of jibber jabber to find a recipe that I'm looking for.

Many of you have gotten PM's from me. And some of you have already responded in an affirmative manner.
Kickass!!!
To bring the rest of you up to speed...
As you probably know, I start teaching high school next week. I have Algebra I Part I, Geometry Part I, and another class. I had an idea. I want some of my musical friends to each write a song based on one of the units, then record the song and I'll play it for the kids as review for the test and even burn a CD for them to take home.
I figure, by the end of the year, they'll have a whole CD with review material on it.
I've got no skills aside from supplying the material, and I will supply plenty of it. So I need help.
Musicians: Can you write me a song? Are you able to record it?
Writers: Some of the musicians say that they aren't so good with lyrics. Can you write me some lyrics?
Anyone else: Can anyone think up a name for this project? I'm not sure the county will go for "Whorehouse Rock". Anything else you may be able to contribute?
I've got Psidefect, Whidbey, Joe, Robin, Heavy Jay, 12ax7 and TheJudge on board so far. Joe might be able to get some of his grad school friends too. Oh yeah, and Monk said he can probably do it later in the year.
That's another thing. We have all year. So if you can do it this month, great! Next month? Great! March? Great!
This is going to be really neat. Let me know if you're interested in helping out.
Thanks!!

I've been looking into getting a used car since my comute is so long and my truck likes to guzzle the gas. I found a 92 Corolla for $1800. It's a cute little car, and it's in good shape. I took phyre with me to see the car to begin with. That was around 10 am. The battery was dead so we had to jump it. He said that almost everything else checked out. There were a few things he didn't like, so we got the price down to $1700. So the seller had lunch plans and so did I so I said we'd meet up after lunch. I had to go to the bank. We left there around 11:30. 2:00 I called the seller and said that I was just getting lunch and that we'd be by around 3 or 3:30. We wound up being even later than that, my mom and I showed back up there at 3:40. The car wasn't cleaned out. She had to get all the crap out of the trunk and the glove compartment. Ok fine. I put my old plates on it and gave her the money. She went in to find the title and.....can't find it. Weird Tingly Feeling? She has to go to the DMV. Meanwhile, the battery is still dead so I go get another battery. Oh yeah, I took my money back. We get back there around 4:30 and wait for her to get back. Nope, it's the DMV for christ's sakes. So I said I'd come back today. Got an email last night that said they forgot they were going out of town, that they'd bring me the car on Monday. I really wanted to drive it to work on Monday. I can't take this no air conditioning/hot air constantly blowing into the cab in 90+ degree weather. You're selling a car and don't know where the title is when you show it? Who are these people? So it took me all damn day yesterday and all I have to show for it is a car battery on my living room floor.

I live under a rock and so I just found out that Kevin Spacey plays Lex Luthor in the new Superman movie. Now I wanna PeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I can't wait to see this movie!! But it probably won't be for a while since we're busy planning "the biggest, most spectacular fireworks show in the Richmond area" (BTW, its gonna rain and we don't have rain insurance), but also because I hear you have to see the first one to get it. My person is a little boy who was born a few years after the first one came out. So we have to rent that first.
AND THAT ALSO MAKES ME WANNA PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Christopher Reeve as Supe. Love it.
Hot
Superman

So I got nailed with the Windows XP piracy thing. My computer's locked up. I can't really afford XP and Enrique is ....frowning upon my getting another copy elsewhere. (Fucking morals.)
Anyways, so when I finally do get a new OS, am I gonna lose all my stuff?

I have some raffle tickets if anyone wants to buy some.
They're 5 bucks each or 5 for $20. Proceeds go to send mentally handicapped children to camp.
First prize - 2 tickets to the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 NASCAR Race in Richmond on 9/9
Second prize - $150 gift card to Target
Third prize - $50 gift card to Outback
PM me if you're interested. First come, first serve, but if I get alot of requests, I'll try to get more tickets. Even if you don't like NASCAR or can't come to Richmond in September, you can make a killing selling them on ebay.
/shameless solicitation. (I can do that, I'm Detta)

So my fantasy football team from that other site's name is Detta's DetriMentals. I love that name. But I'm thinking about changing it to Miguella's Guerillas. I think that is equally as clever.
Vote now please. I can't decide.
Hey, is there no voting here? Well, why don't you just TELL me what you think.

Seriously.
Someone in my Jaycee chapter set up a chapter website back in 2001 on Geocities. No one knows who did it or how to access it and it comes up when you search for our name. Any idears on how to get it down? Are we screwed?
Should I try typing "ice cream forum" into google and going to the first place that comes up?

Depite the fact that the standardized tests are over for the year and that my class is specific to helping kids pass that test, I am still doing math in my classes.
And depsite the fact that there are only 10 days left of school, AND I'm making my kids do math, even though the tests are over...they sat silently and did the math without complaint.
Yes folks, I now believe that this is the last day ever. Happy Doomsday, all!

Anyone else pick up the new Tool CD yesterday? I haven't had much of a chance to listen to it but I've looked at it and I gotta say...the artwork is ta-RIPPY!!!! It's really cool. I heard a few songs last night. They were pretty good. It's Tool, how can it be bad?
I was also pleasantly surprised at the price. I bought it for $9.98 at Target. I knew that Maynard is against file sharing. It's nice to see that they're actually seeing our side of it and not overpricing the CD.

*If I've linked you to this thread, it's probably because I want you to choose a few questions and answer them for me. There are many questions. Just pick some. Any of them will do. Then answer them. In your own newbie thread.*
When a number is chosen at random from the set {1,2,3,4,5,6}, which event has the greatest probability of occuring? 1. choosing an even number 2. choosing a prime number 3. choosing a number greater than 3 4. NOT choosing either 1 or 6

LinkAnyone who knows my backstory will laugh. Or cry. Whatever. He's got an entry on Wikipidia for Christ's sakes! dcrog, you're in Kentucky right? Know anything about it?

I clearly don't know how wireless internet works.
The school gave me a laptop. The internet works when I'm at school.
I just brought it home...where I have wireless internet set up. I turned it on and it said that it detected a connection. I told it to connect and it said that it did. But when I open up IE, it doesn't find any webpages.
What am I missing?

So I'm leaving this job in a few days, but I've been here for five years. That's five years worth of crap on this computer that I have to burn to disk. I'm not worried about the files as much, they're in a few places. I'm worried about my emails. Are they all stored someplace? Can I take them with me?

Good News: I'm a math teacher again!
Bad News: It's not at your school.
Other Bad News: I won't be around nearly as much starting in about 2 weeks.
Other Good News: I'll have more time in the summer to hang out.
More Good News: Unless I don't get the same job next year (which is a very real posibility), I'll have more money and I'll be on my way to buying a winnebego and coming to visit you.
PS. Sorry for the cross forum posting.

I know Lacerda bitched about this someplace but I can't find it.
Windows automagically updates on my home computer and restarts itself REGARDLESS OF WHAT I HAVE UP ON THE SCREEN THAT I'M WORKING ON.
Is there a way to turn that off?

Link Changes begin Thursday when for the first time the show will not be broadcast in English on CBS, which had been hosting the awards since 2000. Instead, the ceremony will be broadcast in Spanish only on Univision, marking a dramatic change for the Latin Grammys.I was pretty pissed until I realized that I think I do get Univision. I thought I wouldn't get to see it at all. This is one of my favourite things. I look forward to it every year. I'm wondering if any of you (especially our friends in Uruguay) watch the ceremony and what you think about the changes. I do think that the likes of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Simpson have no business being there. On the other hand, I really enjoyed the performance by Nelly Furtado with Juanes a few years ago. I'm not sure how I feel about it being broadcast in Spanish only. I always kind of wondered why it was in English to begin with. As long as it's broadcast, I'm happy. I'm also unfamiliar with Uruguayan singer, Jorge Drexler, who's up for Song of the Year. You guys like him?
