The Allegory of The Facebook
« on: July 16, 2014, 09:36:23 PM »

If I only know the world through Facebook...

I would think that a woman winning the ninja warrior was like Christ getting crucified. This must have been in my news feed about 15 times today.

I would also think that my friends from high school never really got jobs after college because they only ever post pictures of themselves at parties or on the beach. Oh wait... this might actually be true!

I'd think that Weird Al is the best musician in the world, given his prevalence in my news feed the last two days.

I'd wonder if all my friends are actually cats.

I'd still be that girl that no one talks to at parties because she looks "intimidating".

If I only knew the world through Facebook . . .

I'd either be dead or have no life, I'm not sure. Maybe just blind, deaf, and dumb.

Look at you, hacker: a pathetic creature of meat and bone, panting and sweating as you run through my corridors. How can you challenge a perfect, immortal machine?

It's getting to be like Fark back in 2002.  Way too many n00bs.

With one or two dramatic exceptions my Facebook's not so bad right now! Lotta nice people, plenty of opinions but little acrimony, lots of fun news about music and babies and whatnot from folks I don't talk to every day. I'd think the world is all right, except for the middle east of course (those exceptions are dramatic). Many of you are strong contributors to this if-not-happy-then-reasonably-level situation and I thank you.

Oh and also I'd think my mom is nearly completely illiterate.

I would be under the misconception that everyone runs marathons and rides their bikes 100 miles for fun. Then, when they're not riding their bikes or running, they would be brewing beer in their garages.

None of my friends would live in the state that they're supposed to live in and they would all drive the wrong kind of cars based on some magical quiz they took.

And, there would always be shock and awe about something happening in some governmental body that I don't really care about.

Also, soccer and rugby and baseball would be the sports of choice year round.
