That's right, I did the unthinkable. I have found out a way using two pieces of software to limit my exposure to SPAM up to 96%!

Using SPAM Assasian on the server to mark all emails with *****SPAM***** before the actual subject, and then Eudora to filter all those emails that start with *****SPAM***** to the folder that I made labeled "SPAM".

I have not had to deal with much SPAM the last few times I have checked my email.

All I can say is SWEET!

There are only a few emails that get thru that are not marked with *****SPAM***** before the subject. That's fine with me. As long as I don't have to deal with more than 5 of them at a time, it's good.

That's cool.  I usually let the SPAM build up in my Hotmail account (it takes the brunt of the SPAM and I never use it for anything).  Then I delete all the messages about once every 2 weeks.  It gets pretty hairy (no pun intended) but I usually delete about 400 pieces of SPAM every time.

Only 400 in two weeks, lucky you.

I hate it when I can't check my email, that means that more and more of that crap backs up on the server.

I'll come home from a long day out and I'll have easily around 60 emails almost all being spam.

Fucking pigs.

I had big problems with my Hotmail account. As soon as I deleted the junk mail folder another 15 of the things had arrived. In the end I've just set it up so only people on my safe list can come through and all the rest goes to junk mail. I've also set up the junk mail folder so all e:mail entering it is deleted immediatly. This has sorted the problem and now I get zilch junk mail :D I also set up another e:mail account to direct all important and website e:mails.

Hotmail accounts are natorous for spam for no reason at all. A lot of times spammers will just have lists of random names and numbers that they send to and hope that someone is there.

I wonder if spammers complain about the amount of junk email they get.  :roll:

we should make an anti-spam team... and make efforts to fuck up the pop servers of those guilty...

if we all used a mass emailer, and like 10 of us sent mass emails to an account, would the server have a buffer overflow?

I don't find internet agony enough for those wastes of life. They waste my bandwidth from sending me stuff that I have never asked for. If I ever found out some of their real personal email addresses I'd sign them up for their own crap and hope they like it.

The only thing that would help stop this problem is to find these people in real life and give them something to cry about.

I thought it was supposed to work on all @gotthegeek.com accounts. If it isn't affecting mine, then I suppose I just plain didn't get as much spam as i usually do this morning.

Did you notice how all spam emails are now marked with *****SPAM***** before you get them? If not, then it only works for mail boxes and not redirects, sorry.
