It was actually, pic was taken in Waterloo a few years ago when I moved back to Scotland (By train, of all ways to go!) I roasted for 7 hours dragging 5 bags and an (Unwearable, at the time) trenchcoat with me. Never again!

Ironically, it's the thickness I don't like. Pretty soon after that picture was taken I started tying it back, haven't let it down during the day much since, it's just to wild. I'd actually rather it were a little thinner, wanna trade? =P

I'm terrified to do that, but may have to. How was it? Knowing my luck, right when they start the proceedure a big fucking earthquake will hit and make the laser go all goofy...

I was a long-time contact lens wearer, so I was a bit desensitized to being touchy about things being in physical contact with my eyes, so your mileage may vary.

The procedure is very fast, and a bit "odd" feeling, but it never hurt at any point. I was in and out of the operating room in 20 minutes.

The absolute worst part of the whole ordeal was the two weeks I had to wear my glasses immediately before the surgery. They have you do that because they want your eyes in as "natural" a shape as possible, and contact lenses tend to distort the eye slightly when worn for extended periods (like I did... I never wore my glasses unless I absolutely had to).

I'd do it, if you have the opportunity. I paid for it with flex spending, too, so it made sense financially.

I had it done in January of 2003, so it's been 4 years since, and it cost me just under $2000 total. The way I figure it, even if my vision went to shit tomorrow and I had to start wearing contacts or glasses again, it was still worth it, because I've spent 4 years NOT wearing and paying for said contacts/glasses.

Plus the added bonus of having perfect vision during that time without any bother. I wound up with 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. I just had an eye checkup a few months ago and it's holding steady. BTW, I started out with a pretty heavy astigmatism too, which they corrected easily.

I say go for it man. I'm definitely not sorry I did it.
