the shrinking territories of homosexual marriage
« on: January 22, 2007, 05:52:30 PM »

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Same-sex_marriage_in_Massachusetts
"Massachusetts became the fourth region in the world (after Netherlands, Belgium, and parts of Canada) to legalize same-sex marriage. It is the first and currently the only U.S. state to make same-sex marriages legal."
There are very many people who I hate.  Most of you have probably heard of the frog who tried to outlaw swearings-in on the Koran

I have heard of no such magical talking frog.

I don't quite understand the point of this thread. You lead with just a link, don't offer commentary on it, then go off about something non-related to the subject title. Please elaborate.

What can I say?
Ok, what motivates these masses of voters, what is wrong with gay marriage?

You could offer you opinion on the very questions you posed!  :-) I'll give it a go, why the hell not?

What motivates these masses of voters? If they have been convinced that this is the path that is the most right and correct for their state, then they will vote that way. What I am more interested in knowing is what influenced their decision. I am very certain that a healthy percentage has to do with their religious convictions.

What is wrong with gay marriage? I have heard a great many different answers to this. It is immoral, against God, leads to a legalizing beastiality\polygamy, it's icky...however I have yet to hear any legal reason why it should not be allowed.

I'll add more to it later. It's quitting time and I need to go hit the gym and let off some steam. It's been a crappy day.  :-(

I'm for gay marriage if gay people feel like getting married, but I think it's a misplaced idea to want a stupid little bit of paper from the government. If I had my way, all people straight, gay, bisexual, arborophilic, ect., would do away with marriage altogether as being an enormous and expensive scam.

To be perfectly honest I don't understand what the gay marriage lobbyists are so into about the whole idea, don't three out of five straight marriages end in divorce anyway?

Most of the divorced people I know of are divorced because they realized they were gay.

I personally don't see a problem with polygamy, bestiality, or gay marriage. As long as they're all done by choice, I don't see why it's any of the state's business. If 2 women want to marry the same man, and all parties are happy, why the hell not.

Same here, sounds like the only people who wouldn't be happy would be the crazed old Fundies who have no business bothering other people anyway.

How does one know when an animal does or does not consent to sex?

Marriage used to mean quite alot, I'm not going to bother explaining why it mean't alot as I'm sure the vast majority already know. I personally don't agree with gay marriage, or two people marrying one other. It's annoying how the whole concept has changed and everytime I hear of gay marriages my gut turns.

I do agree that marriage probally should just be abolished, like I've said, it used to mean something, not its just a disgrace.

It's more of a 'why the hell can't us Americans have the same legal recognition of our adult, consenting partnership that every other Amercian has?' than anything else.

Actually, consider me in the minority for purposes of argument: please explain to me how it means less now than it once did lol

You should probably go to the doctor about that - it sounds as if your sectarian gland might be acting up lol

I also remember when pee was like sparkling clean mineral water, the roads were paved with candy, and flying in airplanes was free lol

Are we now using "lol" in place of periods or something?

Test: .

No, but it will now replace 'l-o-l' with a period! punctuation ftw!

I say screw legal recognition in general.

Who cares? Since when do animals have to consent to anything? Do you ask the horse if it feels like running before you ride it?

Why is it in that every single discussion on gay marriage I've come across, someone always has to bring up bestiality in the first place?

That would explain the rather verdant patina of that guy I once knew, Phil Clora.

Yeah, he spent a lot of his time outdoors, which was a good thing, considering he was some kind of fecalphiliac and reeked to high heaven.
